I've always wanted to try a discus, so I tried this out. Also, anything over 3000 years old tends to be over-engineered in fun ways. Very well made, gorgeous quality, well-balanced. Recommended.

This reminds me of an a lot of track. I actually feel like we had the almost exact same disc for our track meets.Since I was a competitive thrower, with all the throwing shoes and all that stuff I always placed first in all of my regionals for California... I can say that this is a promising disc. It's a lot better than those damaged discs that you get in high school... I like that it's accurate in terms of its weight. It feels nice in the hands, The only small con I see is that some of the edges are a little rough. I'm sure when you bang them down a bit and it slams into the ground it'll all grind out in the end and be smooth. That being said, I don't think I'd be wanting to throw this at the ground. This is a nice disc. The body seems sturdy and the only reason I mention the rough edges is I kind of want to polish them down cuz I don't enjoy the gritty feel. However, it might just be the case that they never cared to make it super smooth either because of weight, or because of traction when throwing... I don't know. It just seems a little bit too much like steel kind of prefer it to feel like polished Chrome. That being said, I don't really see that as a huge negative here and honestly, it's a beautiful looking disc. Probably the best I've held because all the ones I've ever held were used in competitions and they were not new that's for sure... Maybe I was just expecting laser smoothness at the end of the day. Again, I don't think that's a possibility.Overall, I think these are a very good value for what you're getting. If you're into practicing and you want something you can throw, I think the best thing I can say is now I don't have a problem running out to the field and trying to see what I can do. It's just more of a issue trying to find a field now that already has a setup discus net... I'm 35 so I don't think I'm going to be finding a place other than an open field to throw this thing.I would say get this if you're trying to practice your form and get better with something that's accurate and true to form for what you would use in a competition. It's a discus. I really can't imagine it having very much wrong with it. It flies just as good as I imagined it would and it works exactly how I anticipated and it's a good value for the money. It's about exactly what I expected them to cost.

I'm really torn on this discus. I have a lot of reasons to rate it 3 and a lot to rate it 4 stars, making it hard to give an overall rating. I find the finish not great, there are dings in the rim, one of the plates doesn't sit flush with the rim by a millimeter or two (not enough to not work but just doesn't feel nice), and the hex head bolts in the center are both so chewed up I don't know that I could get a bit to fit in there without doing some work on it first. On the other hand, the discus does have a good feel on the side that does line up, the plates appear pretty solid and bright, and it has a really nice price. Given the other shortcomings, it's a solid practice disc, but you would likely want to purchase something a little better if you want to get your best distance.

...memories with this. Smooth, easy to handle, will be fun to see the kids try the hands at it. Will go down to the ball park to try it, we live on a creek and I know exactly where one throw will go if we try it here.

This disc was purchased for my high school freshman daughter. The disc weighed in at exactly the correct spec. It has a nice finish on both the ABS body and the steel ring. Nice upgrade from the cheap rubber practice discs.
