Needed an extender to provide a stronger wifi signal to the front doorbell camera. It was easy to set up, and works great. It was identified as works with AT&T. Don't hesitate to get it.

I was surprised by the bonus that if you have a TP-Link powerline adapter already in place (I use a set of 1Gbps adapters to provide internet access to a PC that doesn't have WiFi) then this will use powerline networking instead of WiFi to connect to your router. So I can put this wherever I have a power outlet and get about a bandwidth of around 400Mbps via 5Ghz WiFi.Also because of the powerline adapter, I can use the extender's network port to get around 550-600Mbps with no latency when I connect my laptop. Your mileage will vary on this, it depends on how many "noisy" electronics are plugged into the circuit and whether you have decent electrical wiring in your home.Setting up the extender is easy. You might have been told you need a TP-Link WiFi router for this extender - you do not (mine is an Asus RT-AX86U). All you need to do is download the TP-Link tether app on your phone, plug in the extender, wait for its lights to turn on then let the app find it and set it up. The app walks you through connecting the extender to your home WiFi network, then syncs it. Once this is done you can move it and plug it in about 1/2 way between your router and the area in your home that you're having connection problems. If you want seamless connectivity, you'll need to rename the two networks it creates in the tether app. It creates a new set of 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz SSIDs with _EXT - so you can identify whether you're connecting directly to the router or to the extender. Removing that _EXT from each network will create a continuous network throughout your house. Only thing to remember when you do this, is it creates the same problem you get when you give the same SSID (name) to your 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks. Mostly everything is fine, but every now and then a device will hiccup and not know which network to connect to.

WiFi is now useful throughout my house! This is an amazing difference from before. Zoom meetings no longer stall, pages download rapidly, and streaming video never pauses. Measured download speeds are 20 times faster than before as measured using Android smart phones and Windows laptops. Upload speeds are the same or at most twice as fast. This extender was simple and quick to setup and install using the WPS button on my router by following the provided instructions. It creates a new WiFi SSID by adding the suffix _EXT to the end of your primary router's SSID. I used an app that measures WiFi signal strength to determine the best spot to place the repeater in my house so that the signal from my primary router is strong enough but the new signal from the extender covers the house. We have had this now for about a week and the results are excellent. Sometimes it seems like the TP-Link download speed, even near the primary router, is greater than the speed provided using the primary router WiFi.I had been using a five year old Almond WiFi repeater which is no match to this new extender. The Almond would would stop working and have to be reset whenever the electricity went out. It took many minutes to reboot and startup. The signal provided was almost useless in the farthest bedroom, download speeds were extremely slow, and both zoom meetings and streaming videos were often erratic. The improvements noted above (20 times download speed) were measured compared to this repeater. I have now discarded the old Almond repeater.

A good little extender. 4 star only due to not liking the plug formfactor forcing a wall AC plate or power strip mount. How about a nice table stand?. LOVE that it's easy to set up as Wireless Access Point and not just a dual-band wireless extender. I use ethernet as the source rather than the base-router's wireless for max possible performance and ultra-low lag (preempts degradation from residential walls, doors, furniture, other device RF noise). I get crazy-good performance (1-3 GBps) using a separate MoCA adapter over existing home cable by plugging a MoCA adapter into a cable TV wire splitter and then just plug in the ethernet cable from it into the RE505X ethernet port. Features I'd like to see: Ability to edit in device client name directly from Admin screen (some older network devices do not report their names with the MAC address client list). It would also be nice to see the actual per device data/rate and loss stats from the admin screens and have a bandwidth stress test facility feature in the Admin screen. I see occasional out of time order system logging "quirks" on the admin screen (not sure if I caused that when I was tinkering around with it and rebooting etc.). I also get occasional "DHCP Detection Failed" log warnings that reset by next check that does not seem to cause any operational issues. Nice that the 5Ghz band supports the latest WIFI-6 standard (802.11AX) for mind numbing low lag performance when sourced over ethernet as an access point or a really good inside of home point to point wireless extender. Another nice thing is that it has 3 levels of RF power so one does not have to be running high power all day long and subjecting oneself and other devices to all that RF energy unless its really needed to get out far from the main network (backyard, pool, utility garage etc.). A great little extender that won't bust the wallet and when smartly set up is super high performance.
