  • The power connector 027-0004-KIT receptacle comes with a template that gives you the right size opening to cut out.

  • They are different wiring methods, the "L" makes a 90 degree bend and the Linear is striaght. One has the option of the wire from the battery coming in at 90 degrees or 180 (linear) the other one can only come in at 180 (straight from behind).

  • Yes, it can handle 48V DC connections securely. The trolling motor plug is rated for 12V to 48V DC and comes with a vibration-resistant lock for secure connections.

This is a very solidly designed DC disconnect unit for attaching and removing a trolling motor from a boat. I am adding a trolling motor to my fishing kayak and this product is going to simplify that process immensely. The connector came with an installation template which will make lining everything up much easier to do. There is also a rubber water sealing gasket that doubles as a water and touch shield when it's not in use. The power connect can be mounted in either a vertical or horizontal orientation with the additional mounting plates. The outer plug, that connects to the trolling motor, has a worm gear style locking mechanism. Once it is plugged in and that lock pin is rotated, it is very securely locked together. All of the parts and the overall design feels very heavy duty. Some of the electrical connections appear to be made of brass but there are several full copper connection parts in it as well. I did have to disassemble mine because some of the copper parts had some green corrosion from the factory. I was able to clean them all back up to a shiny copper.I am very excited to get this installed into my fishing kayak with a motor. It's going to make adding and removing an electric trolling motor from the kayak easier during my trips. It will also help simplify running the battery power lines from the front to the back of the inner kayak hull. The design seems more than adequate to handle a simple 12 volt 40 hp trolling motor on a kayak. 4 Stars.

Hands down by far the best trolling motor connection i have ever seen. Never again will i own any other plug. It is robust and well made. The connection is water proof and best of all you can screw them together so they dont come apart until you are ready for them to. I can’t say enough about them. If you want the best this is it. I have used every one out there and nothing is even close.

This trolling motor is dependable and actually connect to my trolling motor. With the capacity to handle high current at low DC voltage, it ensures the trolling motor runs well under demanding conditions. Fabricated with good quality pure copper contacts, it has optimal conductivity for reliable efficiency. The gaskets included has great waterproof performance, making it durable enough for marine environments. Available for both L-shaped and linear connections, it works well with high power trolling motor.

Other trolling motor plugs we've used don't match the secure connection and amperage load this style delivers. The brass pins and sockets are as large as the 6 ga. trolling motor wiring you can hook to it, so there is no resistance increase which results in voltage drop compared to other feeble 2-pin plugs we've had. The machined brass leadscrew secures the plug to the socket with one full turn of the knob, and likewise disconnects the plug with a single turn too. No need to physically push or pull to connect or disconnect the trolling motor plug like other connectors that result in a less-than-perfect connection - like when using a push and twist style plug. The plug portion has 90-degree or straight shrouds to allow the trolling motor cables to exit at right angles (to save space), or straight out. We chose the 90-degree shroud to keep the cable close to the bulkhead on our pontoon. The rubber gasket serves as a seal between the receptacle and boat, and as a plug to keep water and dirt out of the receptacle when the trolling motor plug is disconnected. The instructions are a single sheet of paper, printed double-sided. They include part numbers for all the individual parts that make up the assembly, so I assume replacement parts are available from the manufacturer if needed. The instructions include a mounting/drill template for the receptacle, but pay attention to the size holes needed! Installation requires a 1" x 2-1/4" slot, and two screw holes in the boat. The slot can be made by drilling two 1" dia. holes with a hole saw spaced 1-1/8" apart, and cutting the material between them with a rotary cutting disk or jigsaw. The instructions are a bit misleading, with two arrows pointing to the large drill holes that states "1.125" Mounting Drill Holes". This can be misconstrued to incorrectly use a 1-1/8" dia. hole saw vs. a 1" hole saw. They should have shown the 1.125" as a dimension between the hole centers, and call out the holes as " 1" dia. holes".The receptacle can be mounted (with the gasket beneath it) using stainless flat-head screws (not included).Other than the mounting hole size confusion, the big complaint is the metals used. The listing states "features corrosion-resistant stainless steel and silver-plated copper contacts", but the pins are solid brass (no plating), the sockets appear to be copper-plated brass, and the leadscrew is solid brass. Only the nuts and possibly washers are stainless (the flat and lock washers are magnetic). The listing description is copied from the original Battery Tender information, which does indeed use all stainless construction, including the studs, sockets, and leadscrew.Overall, this design is the easiest trolling motor plug to connect/disconnect to get a perfect and reliable electrical connection every time.PROS:- Compact plug doesn't protrude like other plugs- Large diameter studs, pins, and sockets for high current carrying with minimal voltage drop- Versatile angled or straight plug wiring option- Easy, secure one-turn connection with the large thumb screwCONS:- Price is expensive compared to other types of plugs ($99.99 at the time of this review)- Instructions are not clear on hole sizes that need to be drilled (1" not 1.125")- Listing states "stainless steel and silver-plated copper contacts" but electrical connections are all brass, no silver plating

I installed on my 25' boat for spot locking on reefs in the ocean. I was having problems with my trolling motor in high current and hard use. Turns out my previous plug was getting really warm because of ampreage draw. Well this plug solved all of that.As described, there are two electrical connectors. Love the way the wire connects and gives you plenty of room for larger gauge wires. Love the secure way it screws together and stay water tight. Had the plug for about a month and the quality is outstanding. Quick to engage, no play, and made my trolling motor feel more powerful. I highly recommend this product to those looking for the absolutely best battery connector for your trolling motor.
