For some reason the order was placed for AWG8. The plug and socket delivered was AWG10 which is what I really wanted. AWG8 wire is too large to fit into the solar controller terminals I use for 2kw to 3kw power stations I build. Nevertheless, the receptacle is of good build quality.As in others of this type, the spring loaded protective receptacle cover has a tab that grips the plug securely. Only consideration is to mount it so its length doesn't make it vulnerable to leverage that could damage it.

I was having the plastic melt on some connectors I had so I decided to upgrade to 8 gauge wire with more heavy duty connectors. These are actually 8 gauge and are thick. It handles the current I'm drawing without issue. I really like the connector design as well. If you're running high current draw in rough conditions like automobile use I highly recommend this connector.
