I returned this item and bought the kit which also includes the safety switch. Safety switches are known to fail most often.It supposedly can be taken apart and repaired. Good luck. Many small parts inside, not worth the time and efforrt to clean and repair. Best practice is to replace both parts and be sure heater will dependably light and stay lit.
