About this item

  • Constructed of industrial grade brass, this valve is corrosion resistant, more conducive for welding, optimal for higher temperature projects, and can be used with gasoline, diesel fuel, kerosene oil, natural gas, air etc. Due to the chemical composition of brass, this valve should NOT be used with projects involving drinking water or other water projects.
  • This valve was manufactured with a VITON seal. VITON is the most durable and high performance rubber material with the ability to resist high temperatures and corrosive chemicals and other fluids like gasoline, diesel fuel, oils, and lubricants.
  • This highly responsive valve will open and close in less than 1 second when actuated; meaning it will open or close the flow instantaneously when energized or de-energized. Also, our U.S. SOLID engineers have determined that the life cycle of this valve is well over a million cycles with proper operating conditions and maintenance.
  • PLEASE NOTE: This valve is NOT a continuous duty valve and should NOT be in continuous use for more than 8 hours in a single cycle; to do so will shorten the life of the valve and may cause the core of the valve to burn out. If you need a continuous duty valve for your project please search for our U.S. SOLID Motorized Ball Valves.
  • As with all U.S. SOLID products, this valve comes with a ONE YEAR WARRANTY. If the valve does become defective within the first year of purchase, U.S. SOLID will gladly replace it.

Product Description

U.S. Solid 3/4" 24V DC Normally Closed Solenoid Valve, VITON gasket, Solid Brass

1

The U.S. Solid electric solenoid valve features a durable brass body, suitable for outdoor but not underwater use. It's favored by customers for DIY projects, moderate temperature and chemical applications, as well as for controlling flow in irrigation, reverse osmosis, and motorcycle systems.

Direction of the Flow

Most U.S. Solid Valves are UNIDIRECTIONAL

Make a note of the arrow on your valve. Most U.S. Solid valves are unidirectional. This means they are intended to flow in one direction only, in the direction of the arrow. If connected in opposite directions, the valve will not actuate properly (will not close for Normally Closed valves). Additionally, be sure the medium passing through is filtered. If not, particles will cling to the gasket over time, which can cause it to not seal properly.

THREADING

U.S. Solid Valves follow National Standards for pipe thread. We suggest the use of Teflon tape to ensure the seal of the NPT threading. The tapered male and female thread form angled surfaces that with increased torque squeeze the Teflon tape resulting in a tight seal.

1

OVERHEATING

These valves should be energized for less than 8 hours. While most do not have more than 18W of power, the coils are in a contained area and can burn out if energized for too long. We suggest a computer fan to keep the coil cool if necessary to energize continuously for extended periods.

1

POLARITY

  • For valves with 2 wires, the valve will actuate regardless of which terminal each wire is connected to (+ or -). Some units include a ground wire. Open up the connector and look for the ground symbol (as shown in the corner).
  • For valves with a ground wire, please be sure to ground the valve.

GASOLINE and PRESSURE WARNING

  • NBR gaskets should not be used with gasoline, kerosene, or other petroleum products. If your valve requires contact with these substances, opt for one with a VITON gasket.
  • All solenoid valves need some pressure to actuate. This is especially true of pilot or indirectly operated valves.

Most US current is AC. This solenoid is 24v DCMake sure you are getting the correct voltage for your application. I didn’t but I have used this brand in the past and have found them to be reliable.

Thought it didn't work. Now I'm not sure since the 24V adapter I was using turned out to be 24v AC. That being the case, Im erasing my negative review and will try again with a 24v DC adapter when I can get one. If the valve isn't damaged I'll update this, otherwise idk.I'm not sure that AC current would damage the coil so much as just not work, since the voltage is correct, but I can't really know for sure so if it still doesn't work with a DC adapter I can't be sure that the valve was actually faulty or if the AC adapter damaged it, so I can't really leave a negative review...

This valve is NOT made in the US; it is made in China, per the specifications given. However it appears to be of high quality, with a substantial brass body, The pipe connections are standard tapered US 3/4" female threaded (NPT), unlike some of the less expensive valves of this type, also made in China. The 24-volt DC valve operating coil is NOT rated for continuous operation: 8 hours maximum on-time because of heat buildup, per the manufacturer's printed specifications received with the valve.

I am using this as a control valve for my irrigation system. Very affordable and made in the USA. Remember to convert ac to dc with diodes if using it for an ac irrigation control panel.
