Latch handle lever did not pull cable far enough to release door. Bought new cable and still did not work. Had to shim cable at the ball. Used a small spring. Needed about 3/16” shim to work.

While the location of the handle makes connecting the cable to the handle a challenge, a little time & lots of patience makes the savings worthwhile. Especially considering the first time I paid a dealer to replace just the handle, it cost over $400.

Cable had too much free play to unlatch my 2004 Sequoia SR5. I went to the fishing store and bought some split shot and used a pair of plyers to add a second ball to tighten up the slack. It worked for a few months and I figured the lead ball is soft, so it found its way off eventually. It was still on their so I redid it, and now it won't work. I used it with a brand new latch actuator, so it isn't that there's to much rust or friction, plus I sprayed everything with silicone lubricant. I may try to screw a mini u bolt, with a bar and a couple nuts to see if that works. I'm trying to figure out if this is going to be with any cable I order, and if so I'll come back and give it 5 stars and figure, maybe the handle latch grabber thing that grabs the cable may need to be bent back a little bit.
