The core bore is all one diameter. Most ER20 collets i have used have a step/stop in the bore shaft to help you set or seat your bit. The bit doesn't usually come out the top end of the collet. So with the bit seated about 3/4 ways in, the grip is maximized. But the collets i received are missing that inner stop. I did try one anyway and the bit held. My bit was 100% to top end of collet in my trial the collect still seamed to hold. I did torque my bits to 50 ft/lbs as hoping for compensation in the difference of design of collet bore. Ran just one job with it. Unsure of longevity..

these are affordable the quality appears better than some. I'm an extreme CNC woodworking hobbiest so I change bits often. These were purchased to replace worn collects. Not sure they would be accurate enough for metal working duevto runout.
