This product is great to use while making a project. You can keep it on the spindle to work your yarn after having it respun from it original packing or take it off and save for later. It's sturdy enough for both. It's compact size makes it great to repack and take it on road trips.

Does not work as promised. Therefore did not make my crocheting more pleasant.

Got this and the same tidied up my yarn collection. Probably the best device I have purchased since I started crocheting again. I just love it.

This yarn winder is perfect for winding up your half used skeins of yarn into small, center pull cakes. It will fit snugly on a table and it's easy to use. Put the yarn end in the slot at the top of the winder, and then have the yarn go the metal arm on the side, and then turn the handle to wind the yarn into a cake. You are only limited by the length of the metal arm on the side, so when the cake starts to get so large that it is almost touching the metal arm, that's when you're done. It does comes with instructions, and it also comes in a sturdy box which is great for gift giving. It comes with a small pair of nippers, but I prefer my scissors. The hooked needles it comes with are actually cable needles for knitting, and three other bent cable needles too. It also comes with differently sized plastic needles for sewing knitted or crocheted projects. In addition, there are also some small stitch markers, again in two different kinds. I guess they just throw everything in there to fill the box. These are useful, sure, but have nothing to do with winding yarn. It works fine for the price, as it's mostly plastic, but this is a good starter one for someone who isn't sure how much they will use one or need one.

I didn't read the instructions carefully the first time around and ended up in a bit of a knot but once I figured out what I did wrong, it works great. Very easy to set up and use, you can get through a whole roll of yarn pretty quickly. Overall would recommend if you have lots of yarn laying around.
