Very nice quality Japan made screw bits by Vessel. Reasonable price for the quality. The phillips may be JIS, but can't confirm, most likely. **Be aware these are longer 13mm bases (still 1/4" hex) that are made for the Japanese tool market standards, therefore will not lock in place on a shorter North American bit chuck (maybe fine for a magnetic chuck). I happen to have some Japanese tools they work with, however there was another review in which the single ended bit bases were cut & shortened, if you can be bothered. Vessel does make bits for the North American market (shorter base) is you search here on Amazon. No case, bits are loose. Happy screw driving!

Great quality JIS driver bit set but unfortunately the bits are not designed to fit north american power drivers. The collar for the detent lock is farther up the shank and too high for the bit to lock into the tool. I tried them on multiple drivers with the same result. I used them in my cordless drill no problem or with a magnetic adapter in my impact driver they work fine but you just have to make sure they don't slip out. It's hard to find a quality JIS bit set and I'm willing to put up with the minor inconvenience for now until I can find something better.

I bought these to use with my Vessel 220BW ball-grip driver handle, and they work very well for that. There's not enough wobble or rattling to speak of. These bits do have a longer 13mm base that slides into the chuck, so they will only work with Japanese standard drivers. I knew that going in. They are very well made. All the dimensions are cut perfectly, the finish is nice, and they're made in Japan with Japanese tool steel, which is right up on the same level with US and German made steels. All Japanese made phillips head bits are JIS, even if it doesn't state it on the package. I find that JIS fits standard US phillips hardware much better than regular phillips, and doesn't try to cam out nearly as bad. I ordered another, different 5-peice set of these too, they're just not in yet. The black Vessel Go-sai belt-loop bit holder work best to hold these, even though it'sa tight fit until you can get it worn in a little. They don't quite fit right in my other standard 25mm-length bit holders.

This is a real nice entry level kind of set of cross point and straight bits. I work on a lot of Japanese motorcycles and they all use JIS style screws. They may look like SAE Phillips type screws but there are enough differences that your chances of stripping out a JIS screw with a Phillips bit are virtually assured if the screw was torqued properly. These bits lock into the Japanese screws and they can be tightened or loosened with the screw heads (and the bit) still intact afterwards.This set has all you need to loosen and tighten the more common JIS screws. A deeper handle is required if you want to use the longer bits manually.
