Took a gamble since most reviews showing rusted out bottoms were from 1-2 years ago. All of my 6 poles retract. Anyone saying their poles are leaning likely didn’t follow the instructions saying to tool tighten the bolt on the bottom holding the pole. Personally I wouldn’t tighten as strong as you can, but you definitely want it to be tight as that’s what holds the pole up.You also want to be careful when moving these around by the pole and probably should retighten the screw every so often because eventually it will become loose from movement. You get what you pay for. Eventually these will brake from being reckless with the strap retraction or the bottoms will completely shatter (I’m pretty sure it’s concrete so it just breaks up and falls out like a cheap lamp base eventually will).Oh, and obviously the poles are not 0.03 inches like Amazon’s page stats in several spots. The pole is roughly 2”, the top is roughly 2.5” (I believe there were 2 options, I bought the wider posts). I had to wait to receive to measure before I could buy sign attachments, so hopefully this helps someone!
