Found the item on vine and offered it to my mother who plays violin. Her experience was that it was giving her issues until I went in and tried to fiddle with it. Attaching it to the violin was not easy or difficult, but positioning it was quite difficult, as it would slide almost as if the grips were oily. Quality seems OK and very worth the price. I personally have not played with a shoulder rest as I learned the viola. Additionally that was 20+ years ago. My mother practices fairly regularly, and because her old shoulder rest broke about 1.5 years ago, I got this one for her. As it has been so long for her, she may just be struggling with it. Personally, I would consider this to be an entry level product, where if you play or are looking for someone who is more serious about the instrument, I'd go for a more premium product. Good as a spare or stopgap though. As for the extra piece, I have never used a fine tuner, so I don't think that I would be able to give a proper review on that.

Simple foam padded narrow shoulder rest that is good for beginning violin students. The soft rubber coated feet help protect the violin from scratching when installing the shoulder rest. It is made to fit both the 3/4 and 4/4 size violin with rocking adjustment to position to your liking on your shoulder. This will also fit a 14โ€ size viola as well.

You are getting what you pay for. Sholder rest is functional, adjustable, easy to place and remove, light, easy to store with folding legs, works as advertised. But it looks and feels cheap. Plasticy, and not well finished, I guess looks better than a folded cloth? Anyway, for the very cheap price, this item does work. Oh, they also throw in a plastic fine tuner which I guess adds to the value.

It's a bit weird to get setup on the violin for the first time, but after that your good to go! It's not the most comfortable shoulder pad ever, but it gets the job done.

This is a pretty cheaply made shoulder rest, but for the price, it is decent. It works just fine, isn't uncomfortable, and folds up to fit into a case. The padding is a little thin, but this doesn't really bother me, because it is at least thick enough to keep the edges from digging into my shoulder. One of the legs on mine is very loose, so it flips around when I'm trying to get it onto my violin. Not too big of a deal, just a little annoying and makes it seem more flimsy. It fits my 4/4 violins fine, and the legs have a good grip. I do like the fact that it is all black. This would be perfect for a beginner or student who doesn't want to spend a lot of money on a shoulder rest. The included extra fine tuner is nice, and I appreciate this, because after 35 years, the one on my primary violin is getting a little hard to turn, so next time I have to change my E string I'll be putting this one on instead.

What I find somewhat strange in the purchase of this item is that it includes a shoulder rest AND a fine tuner (typically used for an E string). They're not usually paired. The shoulder rest fits nicely. The rubber end on the feet ensure that the body of the violin is not scratched when sliding it on. However, its not well cut. You can see remnants of the manufacturing process that were not cut off. But for the price, I think its a minor visual issue. That the feet can fold is great for storage of the shoulder rest. This is a great shoulder rest for beginners. I will say that if you do have a long neck, this should not be the only adaptation to fill the gap. Consider also a raised chin rest (or getting a shoulder rest that extends further).

This fits a 4/4 fiddle just fine, but the quality is low. Made from a cheap plastic, not very adjustable. My husband says that itโ€™s alright and gets the job done, but it isnโ€™t very comfortable. Donโ€™t expect professional quality, but if you canโ€™t afford a high end shoulder rest, this will do until you can. Might be good if you were to put foam on the bottom or customize it as you see fit.
