Defender-ST Features
Brightness Selection with the Defender-ST sight offers 12 settings (10 daylight settings and two NV settings). Adjust the dot brightness by pressing the appropriate “Up” or “Down” button.
Motion Activation is only available when the auto-shutoff feature is turned on. By allowing the unit to shut off automatically after 10 minutes, the dot will turn on automatically the next time you pick it up. Powering down the red dot manually will disable the motion activation.
Auto-Shutoff will automatically shut off the Defender-ST after 10 minutes. Powering down the red dot manually will disable the auto-shutoff feature. To engage or disengage the auto-shutoff press and hold the up and down buttons for three seconds.
Button Lockout mode prevents unintentional setting changes on your Defender-ST.

I'm knocking one star because as good as this optic is....It has one STUPID feature. When you turn on "lock out" mode, and the optic goes to sleep, the lock-out function is DISABLED. So range bags, etc be prepaird for a dot thats maxed out or off. For carry, the optic does not go to sleep so it should stay locked out. Other then this its a great optic

I've had really good luck with Vortex Optics on my guns. They are bright for indoor use, and their battery life has also been great. It's a well-built optic and has held zero for me.

The main reason I ordered this is the lifetime warranty, and the fact that it's waterproof. The auto shut off is a nice feature too, but the bigger issue on theses type of sights especially on the less expensive sights is that the bottom of the unit between the mount and sight is not covered and exposed to allow water directly into the electronics. This is sealed tight. I've bought quite a few cheaper ones, and all have failed. Treat yourself and buy a nicer sight. This one is a bit pricey, but its NICE.

Good sight, tough and has about every mount you need in the box. Very nice to have a rail mount and the mounting screws for adapter plates.

Using this on my 10/22. At 71 my eyes can't see the iron sights and the target but this works perfectly. After 300 rounds it is still putting bullets through holes at 50 yds free standing. IMHO Vortex makes very high quality hardware.
