I am a bit perplexed regarding the installation parameters on this device. It is marketed as an outdoor model, and I intend to use at as such, but the instructions indicate that it should not be exposed to humidity. Rain seems humid to me. It could be that the interface unit and power supply could be the items not to be exposed, and I can understand that as the interface module is totally open to water intrusion. There is a bit to be desired in translation between Chinese and English, but there again, I can speak no Chinese so they did a fair job, all things considered. The instructions indicate that the RJ 45 cable be inserted through the seal. This is not going to happen. The seal needs split. There is a fine line on the seal indication the correct place to cut it into the thru hole for the cable. The instructional video on YouTube indicates the seal is pre-split. Mine was not.Using the old school method of accessing the set up page (192.168.10.1) popped me directly in to the set up page. From there set up was quick and straight forward. I am only using mine as a repeater for security cameras so the set up was very simple.Time will tell how well this unit functions, but my initial observations are favorable.

This outdoor WiFi access point offers a reasonable solution for extending connectivity beyond the confines of indoor spaces. Its installation was relatively straightforward, and the weather-resistant design appears adequate for withstanding typical elements, which is a practical advantage for outdoor use. The signal range is satisfactory, providing coverage across a modest area without significant interruption. However, the performance leaves room for improvement. Connection speeds were inconsistent during peak usage, and the device struggled to maintain stability under moderate environmental interference, such as wind or nearby structures. These limitations prevent it from achieving a higher rating. While it fulfills basic expectations, it falls short of excelling in demanding conditions. In conclusion, this access point earns three stars for its functional, albeit unremarkable, capabilities. It suits casual use but may disappoint those requiring robust, unwavering performance.

I recently installed the WAVLINK AC1200 Outdoor Long Range WiFi Extender to boost the Wi-Fi coverage in my backyard and here's my experience.Setup and Installation: Setting up the extender was relatively straightforward. The device supports multiple operating modes, including Router, Access Point (AP), and Repeater, which adds flexibility depending on your network needs. However, I did encounter a minor hiccup during the configuration process, but consulting the user manual helped resolve it.Performance: Once operational, the extender significantly improved the Wi-Fi coverage in my outdoor areas. The dual-band connectivity offers speeds up to 300Mbps on the 2.4GHz band and 867Mbps on the 5GHz band, which is sufficient for streaming and general browsing. I noticed a stable connection even at the far end of my yard, which was previously a dead zone.Build Quality: The device boasts an IP67-rated weatherproof enclosure, designed to withstand various weather conditions. It feels solid and looks tight. There are bushings at all entry points to help prevent water incursion. While it has held up well so far, only time will tell how it endures through Winter and Summer.Considerations: One aspect to note is that the Ethernet ports are limited to Fast Ethernet (10/100 Mbps) rather than Gigabit speeds. This might be a limitation if you're using this as a wired AP as your connection speeds will be affected. Conclusion: Overall, the WAVLINK AC1200 Outdoor WiFi Extender has effectively extended my network coverage outdoors. Despite a few minor limitations, it serves its purpose well and offers good value for its price point.

This is what I needed to get signal from outdoor cameras away from the house running solar. I have about 5 cameras that use Solar to run power and this will get our WiFi out to them. It does cover my 10 acres. With that said our home is located roughly in the middle. I have WiFi game cameras and others at the drive. I have hunter’s all around. They have come up missing odds and ends of things. You have to cross my property to get where they are. You will get a picture taken now I have live feed.

Incredible range with other WAVLINK extenders. Web address for setup can be frustrating to navigate. Patience required. Will not work with PoE++ Netgear network switch which surprised me. The same Netgear switch I use to power the 2 bigger WAVLINK extenders I have (AX3000), will not power this smaller one. It won't even work with a different model WAVLINK extender injector (AX3000), must use the PoE injector that it comes with in the box. It can take between 5-10 minutes to boot up after plugging it in. Full bars at over 600' through timber, although that may change when the leaves return this spring. All in all, this can definitely solve your problems if you need wifi across your farm.
