DirecTorr Gold oil is a synthetic hydrocarbon oil put through a double molecular distillation process. Recommended for corrosive gas and vapor applications regardless of the pump used. Oil is triple-distilled, severely hydro treated oil designed to resist breakdown at the higher RPMs and operating temperatures of direct-drive vacuum pumps.

One label said 'Welch Vacuum 8995P-15 DirecTorr Premium Pump Oil, 1 gal' but I found my vacuum was not very low. Then i discovered that the oil I was using was for belt driven pumps not direct drive. A pasted on label was incorrect. So I wasted considerable effort and resources. The plastic container looks very similar for the two types of vacuum pump oil. Someone put the incorrect label on and so it took two months to find the error.
