Excellent productvery easy to assemble. I think it took me about 20 minutes to put the entire thing together.it hangs right on top of my door. My floor is now shoe free.It didn't fit my other door. But luckily this door was able to fit the rack and close properly

the workaround is if you go to a hardware store and replace the screws yourself.even if i were to put the screws on the other side they would still simply fall off because the bars dont have a nut to hold the screws in place.

Quality overall is good but it was a pain to assemble. Ended up having to use a couple of our own screws as the ones provided wouldn’t thread.

Shoe storage in the NYC sized apartment is a huge pain.Built in Shoe shelves as part of the closet would be ideal, but not in the rental apartment. The free standing shelves at the same price range arent sturdy enough. This rack once attached to the wall makes it easy and effortless putting shoes on it and taking them off of it. It doesn't wobble when you touch it and it stays steady when you pull things away from it.

Ask yourself that question before beginning assembly of this otherwise good-quality-at-the-price-point Whitmore Door Shoe Rack because, trust me, the eff bombs are gonna fly. What makes this extra annoying is that this SHOULD be a snap. The instructions are simple and very straight forward. You don't even need tools! The supplied allen wrench is the only tool necessary. The PROBLEM, as you'll discover, is when you get to the 12 "long" screws that attached the shelves to the outside frame. The screws are just barely--maybe by 1/64th of an inch--long enough to reach the hole into which they must be threaded. So catching the hole just right to start the threading--which would be a snap IF the screws were just a bit longer--becomes an eff bomb filled journey of try, try and try again. And just when you think you've got it and start to tighten, the screw pops out of the hole again because you didn't catch it quite enough. BONUS cursing: if you do this repeatedly and mess up the end threads on a screw, then YOU are screwed because there are no extra screws. You'll have to stop mid-project and call the company, then wait a week or two for them to send you a replacement screw. Fun times!I ended up intentionally crimping the tubes in a few places around the holes, which allowed the screw to protrude a little more and catch the hole in the shelf into which it had to be threaded. Problem solved, but how does Whitmore not see that these screws need to be a bit longer?Once assembled, it's a solid over-the-door shoe rack that I prefer to the fabric ones, and I'm pleased with the end result. If the "long" screws were just a bit longer, I'd give this 4-5 stars. Thanks for taking the time to read my review and I hope you find it helpful in making a buying decision.

I have to agree with the people that found it difficult to assemble. Why not have a nut and bolt system? Instead we have a super short bolt that created an issue for me. When it fit, it was easy; but if it was off a bit, maddening! I almost gave up. I eventually used my own nuts and bolts for some of the trouble holes.Aside from that, it holds the shoes well and I am pleased with the end result.

1) BEFORE YOU BUY: I used a 12 in (30cm) ruler, but in order to determine if the unit fits your closet, hold a shoebox against the inside of your door and close to door in oree2) ASSEMBLY: It took me a little over 33 minutes to assemble this shoe rack, and I only used the supplied Allen wrench. If you have never assembled anything like this, be patient and maybe have someone help you. When assembling the crossbars to the end brackets, you have to hold the crossbar so that it doesn't spin around while tightening the screws. I held them in place with my hand, but pliers could be used as well (risk of scratches). After assembly, it is important to make sure all the screws are tightened.3) USE: The rack can easily hold 12 pairs of adult sized shoes at least 7 inches (17.8 cm) long. Be aware that any adult shoe size over US men's size 12 (11.81 inches, EUR size 46, UK size 11, 30cm) will likely be too big to use as shown on the rack. The brown ones and the gray New Balance ones are size 12s. I hope this helps.

So far very satisfied with this shoe rack! It’s sturdy against the back of the door and was super easy to assemble. I usually cannot function any type of tools (even a screwdriver) but the instructions looked super clear so I decided to give it a shot and I ended up building it in about 30 minutes! Super easy assembly. The brackets used to hang on the door also includes holes in which you can add screws once the shelf starts to get heavy and weigh down the door (causing it not to shut properly), which I will be doing once I start to add more shoes :)

This shoe rack is sturdy and looks really nice. You can hang it on the door or break off the u bracket and mount it on the wall which i did. The only issue i found was if you have boots their not going to fit unless you put them on the top row and big shoes might not have enough room (depth) to sit on the rack but thr angled rows help prevent them from falling back

Purchased as a Christmas gift for our daughter when her other “over the door “ rack broke. I have one of those daughters that loves buying shoes & always on sale. So there are way to many to just toss in a closet. This rack held them ALL. And unlike others we had seen which were metal AND PLASTIC, this is all metal. She’s not your typical size 7/8 shoe, she’s like her mother with a larger foot. This rack holds them all amazingly well. Much better than her last rack where you had to HANG them on those upside down “U” shaped hangers. Her shoes were to big for those so they never fit very well and it always appeared the rack was a mess of piled on shoes. Not anymore. Her shoes sit nicely onto the sturdy rack. And the great thing is it’s so sturdy that it doesn’t rock back and forth on the back of her door. It hangs smoothly against the door even without being secured with screws. That’s perfect since we are in a rental and don’t want to put holes in the door. For anyone wanting to get their shoes in order I would recommend this rack. I shopped around for months and without paying an “arm & leg” for one of those high priced racks, I feel this was well worth the money. I definitely could not find the same in any of the big box stores, for the price and quality, that I got with this one.
