Bought this for my mother-in-law who wanted a brass door bell. This one does the trick but the quality could be a little better. The Finish is not quite as nice as she would like it to be.

It works, unlike the previous two from local hardware stores. I just needed a switch, not a lighted plastic module with a printed circuit board. And which did not accept 6-12 volt ac current as traditional doorbells do. It does not push "value added" plastic on me. It promises to be long lasting, it is attractive, and it is made in India (an actual democracy that is far to be preferred to China).

When the button is pressed a circular plate is moved inward to contact the two wires thereby completing the circuit and ringing the doorbell. My button; when completely "pushed in" didn't reach the two wire contacts. The solution was to file down the brass cylinder on the back of the doorbell button (the cylinder that the plastic cylinder screws into) After the brass cylinder height was decreased about 3-4 millimeters the button's circular plate could reach the two wires contacts and complete the circuit and ring the doorbell. The screws are of very low quality metal with burs. (you might opt to replace them) The main face plate is definitely solid brass and does look very nice. However, this doorbell button "in total" is not produced with precision. The inherent variations allow a high defect rate. So install it to see if yours is good or not. And return it promptly if you are not handy enough fix the defect or have a more confounding problem. I procrastinated installing mine (missed the return window) and had to fix it to use it.I very much like the way it looks but I don't like the way it works. Infrequently the spring in the button hangs on something and the bell is not rung despite my modification. If you just press the button with a little more force the spring hang is overcome, the bell is rung and normal function returns. All in all, I have doubts about the functional longevity of this doorbell button. But ring or not, it will still look very nice.

Beautiful easy to install door bell. Solid brass and nice finish. I had to chip a bit of the brick/mortar (about the size of a quarter) to accommodate the back piece where the wires connect, because it protrudes from the casing, but I easily did it with a small chisel and a hammer. The end result was great, i highly recommended it.
