A good decent portable fog horn for the boat. Easily charges, loud as you know what.Quality is higher density formed plastic. If protected and not slammed around, it should withstand many years of usage. Its loud. Like....very loud.

I made the mistake of thinking this wouldn’t be as loud as an air horn and that was a huge miscalculation. I tested it in my garage and my ears were ringing for over an hour. If you’re going to test it, do it outside and protect your ears because this thing is brutally loud. Now with that out of the way, the fact that it’s rechargeable is a big plus. Unlike traditional air horns, you can use it over and over. That said, an air horn will sit on a shelf for years and still work as long as it doesn’t leak. This one you have to keep charged, so there’s a tradeoff. It claims to meet Coast Guard standards but I didn’t see anything indicating it’s waterproof. If you’re on a boat, that could be a dealbreaker. If it turns out to be waterproof, great, but nothing I saw gave me that confidence. As far as value, this thing runs $189 at the time of this review. You’d have to go through a lot of single-use air horns to break even. On top of that, you can get a Taylor Made Eco refillable air horn for under $60 and it comes with a shock pump. I use one on my jetski and it works perfectly. It has none of the drawbacks of an electronic horn but all the benefits of a regular one.Bottom line, if you’re buying this for marine use I’d pass. You’re better off with either a disposable air horn or something like the Taylor Made refillable option. If you’re using it on land to scare animals or for some other outdoor use, it’s a solid choice that doesn’t need a pump and lasts a long time between charges. Still, the price is hard to justify for what it is.

This air horn is a fantastic addition to your outdoor gear, especially if you're planning a camping trip. This rechargeable electric air horn is not only portable and handheld, but it also packs a serious punch with its incredibly loud 121dB sound. One of the standout features is that it's gas-free, making it an environmentally friendly choice. Plus, it's Coast Guard approved, which speaks volumes about its reliability and effectiveness for marine boating and workplace safety.Imagine being out in the wilderness, and you need to signal for help or alert others to your location. The Hornet's powerful sound ensures you'll be heard, even from a distance. It's also great for deterring wildlife or simply making your presence known. The fact that it's rechargeable means you won't have to worry about running out of power, and its compact design makes it easy to carry around. However, at $150, it is quite expensive compared to other gas air horns, which are typically around $12. You would need to buy 12 cans to break even, making the gas can version a more economical choice unless you plan to use an air horn frequently.
