The material is advertised as leather. I couldn't find any leather anywhere. All the blue on the front is what might be called "leatherette." It's vinyl. I'm not sure leather would be any better. The pads gradually fall down, and you need to keep adjusting them upward. However, I suppose it's the same for all knee pads. At least, wearing these is much better than bare knees on a hard floor. So, they work. I knocked off one star because of the false advertising. I gave them only three stars because I have no idea how long the vinyl is going to last.
