I was concerned about some of the less than stellar reviews on this item. But if you are a hobbyist - not a pro, you need this tool to really stretch canvas on a wood stretcher. It's worth it.

Perhaps this works great on larger canvas sizes. But I mainly stretch canvas from paintings by numbers (size 16 x 20 inches), and they have very small edges left for stretching and it is impossible to stretch using this Grip Canvas Tool. I looked for a helpful video on the Internet to understand what I was doing wrong, but unfortunately this device did not come with instructions on how to use it and as a result, I couldn’t master it

Brilliant piece of hardware when building a canvas. Does exactly what it's supposed to do and doesn't rip the canvas because it has a rubber padded clips

Very sturdy. And very easy to use. I had an old stretcher and can't believe how much easier it was to stretch a canvas with this one. I would definitely recommend buying.

Worked well, had to remove one star because the rubber dip on the handles immediately came loose, making operation a little difficult. Some duct tape should do fine.
