The stand itself is adequate, however the one I received has visible scratches on it. It was assembled previously because the stand legs were put together incorrectly which made it difficult to assemble. It took assembling it to find out the legs that came assembled were assembled incorrectly. This purchase was very disappointing.

My keyboard is quite heavy, yet this holds it securely in place. The brackets have padding too so it doesn’t scrape up the sides when I tighten them. I definitely recommend going with a reseller. The one I chose said the box was bent up, but the stand itself was like new with minimal scratches. Even still the scratches aren’t noticeable sitting up close or when I put it together. I’m glad I saved a good chunk of cash going that route. The stand is very sturdy and adjusts well to your playing height, however low or high that is. I know I will keep this even when I outgrow my keyboard. I’m glad I didn’t go with a cheap $15 stand.

Cons...If you have trouble assembling things, don't buy this. I have a friend who can assemble pretty much anything & it took him about 45 minutes & it's not a simple process. Also, the instructions are minimal.(I bought a Yamaha P-45 & wanted a sturdy stand, the positive is that it's very sturdy, you can play just like you're using a regular piano & it won't wobble at all. However, the knobs on the top to make the keyboard fit snugly? Too wide. You can't screw them in to brace the keyboard. I used a couple of pieces of styrofoam from the packaging & that worked. I think you can probably figure out a more attractive solution.)When I first got this, due to the above, I regretted not buying the wooden stand that you can put a bench under. When I read about that, people mentioned "wobbling". This keyboard is heavy enough that if it doesn't have good support under it, I can see where that would be a problem.Last word of caution, if you order it & put it together, and decide you don't like it? It would be an enormous pain to take apart & return.

I don't usually write reviews but was pretty disappointed in the overall quality of this product upon delivery. Upon receiving my package, I noticed that the parcel was visibly scuffed up and damaged but didn't think anything of it. When I opened my package, many of the parts were scratched significantly as if the stand was previously purchased and returned or used. The X legs aren't don't even have the correct spacing and the fasteners are very scratched, proving that a previous user did toggle with the stand prior to my purchase. This was supposed to be a brand new stand. The stand seems sturdy and durable, but it is clearly damaged and used. Seriously disappointing in this purchase and would love if customer service could simply pick up their phone.

I was about to order a different (and cheaper) stand for my new MOX8 but what sold me on this stand are the adjustable upright pieces that can 'clamp' your keyboard in place front and back to the stand and not merely support it. The clamping pieces are padded and can be rotated in case you feel like they are sticking up too high. Safe and secure way to keep your keyboard from roaming around or being pushed off the stand.Height is easily adjusted with a squeeze clutch release bar on the upper right side, and up course they tell you to remove your keyboard before trying to adjust the height as they don't want to be responsible for it ending up on the floor. The release bar has spring tension and not at all a hair trigger, so there is no chance of an accidental release. In fact, you have to pull up on the stand a little bit to pull the release, which is a good thing.I find the stand well designed, heavy duty, folds up easily, and professional looking. It should survive many years of roadie abuse.Followup: If for any reason you need it to go lower, it can. Just rotate the stand 90 degrees (the release bar is now on the upper left side) and swap out two opposite end pieces. Now you will have a range from almost on the floor to as high as 32." However, because of the way it's designed, one end will be about 1 1/4" lower than the other end. Just put a book or whatever you have that thick under the keyboard on that end and you are good to go. This could be handy if you have little munchkins who want to play but are too short. Yamaha really could have added a few more notches in the mechanism to allow it to go lower normally, but then they might have had to lower their 300 pound weight limit. Does anyone really have keyboards even close to that? My MOX8 comes in at around 33 pounds. Be aware that the stand length increases as you go lower and may not fit shorter keyboards.

This is one impressive stand.I didn't know that a keyboard stand could impress me this much, until I tried its cheaper sibling (Yamaha PKBS1 Single Braced Adjustable X-Style Keyboard Stand). That one felt flimsy, and I never felt comfortable with it holding our fairly large sized Yamaha keyboard - a PSR E413. In the end, we returned it and tried this one instead. Despite costing about 4 times as much, this is without doubt the keyboard stand to get.The pros:1. It was insanely easy to put together - the pieces literally snap together and are color coded to boot - with about a half dozen screws in all.2. There's a sturdy and solid feel to it - something we noticed right as soon as we picked it up outside our door.3. The interlocking deadbolt/lever mechanism is simply a dream to use - it works well for quick adjustments to the height of the stand.4. The top supports that hold the keyboard in place, are exactly what I was hoping to find. Both arms telescope so they can fit in multiple keyboard widths, and there's a locking screw in place that prevents them from moving apart once adjusted. Finally, the grips that hold on to the keyboard are rubberized - so no stray scratches. The cons:1. The instructions could have been a bit better perhaps - it took me a few seconds to figure out how the hand lever worked to adjust the stand - but it's actually not too hard to figure out - it was just too late in the evening for me :)In conclusion - we are thrilled with this stand - and would heartily recommend it to others. The extra cost was well worth the improved quality to us.Happy playing!
