I bought this for playing cornhole with friends. This is so convenient and I love it. It is digital, which makes it easier, and easy to set up.

Cupholders aren't as handy as you'd think, it wants to tip when you put something in or take it out and it tends to loosen and slide no matter what

Unnecessary? Maybe.Fun? Absolutely.This portable digital scoreboard takes your game up a notch and keeps everything honest and fair. The set includes a tripod stand, a cellphone-style mount, two drink holders, a remote control, and, of course, the digital score board. The scoreboard is bright and loud, so it is easy to read and easy to hear if someone is trying to sneak a point (...you know who you are). With the remote, the scoreboard has a couple of different modes - including a countdown clock - which makes it versatile for different types of games.When placed on flat ground, the tripod is rather sturdy, but you need to make sure all the joints are tightened - especially when adding drinks - as the added weight does make it more prone to slowly collapse. I do like that one of the drink holders has a yellow rim so you can easily identify whose drink is whose. The cup holders are also quite deep and made of heavy plastic so they have no problem holding water bottles provided all the clamps are tight.The one thing I felt was noticeably missing from the set is a carrying case. The whole thing folds-up nice and compact, but you then end-up with 5 or 6 loose parts that become easy to drop or misplace. A simple small fitted duffle-style bag should have been included.We've been using this scoreboard for cornhole and pickleball and have found it works equally great for both. I have to say that I've heard a few jealous gasps when I've set it up at the pickleball court and people are always curious about it.For the price, I feel it is a little bit of a luxury... I mean you don't *have* to have one of these to play your favorite outdoor games, but is sure is nice when you do!
