I bought this item for my pet beardie. it took two of us to place the item where it needed to be because we're silly gooses and set up the tank prior to placing the under tank heater, but it has worked wonderfully for my precious little Merlin as it helps maintain appropriate temperatures for him and his sensitive body.

Note that you MUST use a thermostat with these. Do not ever just plug them in and let them heat uncontrolled, as your scaly baby will get burned.These are my go-to for all my reptile and growing needs. They’re consistent, reliable, and last a really long time. I have been using one since 2015 and it’s still going strong!

The reason I give this 5 stars is for the customer service, but the product itself would probably get 3-4 stars. We purchased this for a reptile tank initially, but within about 10-11 months, it quit working. We have a tank setup that meets all the specifications, and a heat regulator with digital thermometer that gardeners would use to regulate seedings in a greenhouse, so we knew when it stopped working. We contacted the Zoo Med customer service as noted on Amazon and the packaging (keep your packaging and receipt!), and they replaced it free of charge under warranty. So the second one arrives, and also lasts about 10 months, so I dig up the email thread and again they replace it under warranty a second time. They've only asked about our tank setup once to make sure it wasn't user error, and they are always great to replace it, send the FedEx tracking and ship notices via email, and stand by their products. While I wished the product would last longer, the customer service wins the 5 star rating. Will buy again.

I ordered this for use with my bearded dragons terrarium. Easy to place under the tank and simply plug in. Only now as far as i can tell it has stopped working. I was checking it last night and its cold to the touch. Also while it was working i didnt see much change in the ambient temp inside the enclosure so i dont believe when it was working that it really produced enough heat. Going to seek a possible refund.

Keeps the tank warm, no complaints. I’d say comparable to other brands.

I use this with a thermostat controller so it doesnt get overheat my enclosure. It keeps the temperature well but I did notice some spots where it is coming unstuck.
