Bought this rope to replace the synthetic rope on my 15000 lb winch on my rollback after the rope that was on it finally broke after being on the rollback for around 5 years an doing many winching jobs with it out in the weather, love how easy it is to hook up to vehicle n equipment without having to fight a stiff twisted steel cable that doest bend an don't habe to worry about grabbing it without gloves because no steel wire barbs sticking up to cut me,I have these synthetic ropes on 4 different winches on my 4x4 rollback wrecker goosneck trlr n never had any problems when the 5 yr synthetic rope broke I just put back on the hook with a double knot an kept witching with no problem, steel cable need to be braided an several cable clamps to be use to put hook on,also synthetic rope will not be as dangerous if it breaks because it doesn't habe the weight or stiffness as a steel cable flying through the air an can do serious damage to vehicle or person if not kill them,100% safer, highly recommend this synthetic rope, last one lasted a little over 5 years on a rollback wrecker an has been ran through block pulls doubling it up an witching 30,000lb piece of not running equipment up on the truck no problem.

I’ll never know if this is a good rope for a winch because I purchased it to cut in half an make two 45 foot winch extensions. The rope is not as flexible or floppy as most winch cables I have experienced in the past but that doesn’t appear to be an issue for my needs. It’s not so stiff that I think it would prevent it from spooling onto a winch drum, but rather it’s just an observation. After cutting, I was able to splice in new loop ends which turned out fine. I tested the cable and new spliced ends by pulling my pickup up my driveway with the brakes partially applied. I even gave it a few light yanks. No performance issues observed. The included abrasion sleeves are decent. The hook is a basic, no frills hook but it appears serviceable and will be tossed into my box of recovery gear. The reason for the four stars is the stiffness, or lack of flexibility.

First impression, this rope is eye strainingly bright yellow! I love that! I have a basic harbor freight winch on the front of my Jeep and put this on there. It looks great, I've only used it to drag a few logs through the yard, but it worked terrifically for that. It's spooled on just fine and seems very well put together. I think the durability is going to be perfect. And the price point was amazing, definitely much better priced than everything else out there. And I can't get over the extreme color!

Last winter was the first year I actually used the Synthetic rope on my 13,000 lb. winch, I always had steel wire on the winch before this year. If you remember last winter like I do, it was one of the worst winters in my memory. I had to use my winch about 10 times to pull myself or others out of snow drifts. The hardest pull was when a Mercury Mountaineer got a run at the driveway and overshot and ended up on top of a 3-foot-high plowed bank. The mountaineer was straddling the bank, wheels were completely off the ground. Pulling this vehicle back to the road with a single line (no snatch block) did strain the winch and caused very slow progress. The winch was at it's limit, but the line seemed to have more. The winch has a 1/2 rope on it. The same as this one which will replace the one on the winch if needed. This long story just confirms that these synthetic ropes have a few great advantages over the wire ropes. The weight difference is the greatest difference, a 100-foot 1/2-inch wire rope is very heavy, and a 1/2 synthetic is likely 1/4 of the weight. The synthetic is stronger, has less stretch and doesn't kink or get as twisted up. If you break a wire rope it will snap back and be very dangerous while the synthetic rope will just drop to the ground. The synthetic rope can be stored in a much smaller space and can be wrapped with tighter bends without causing kinks or breaks. The last wire winch cable I used had kinks and bends and broken strands all along the length of it. The synthetic rope I used all last winter still looks perfect. I have used the wire rope type for years and was very skeptical that a synthetic rope could ever come close to providing the same capabilities. I am still a bit Leary of plastic matching steel but after this winter coming up, I will likely trust these ropes a lot more. For this specific rope the breaking strength is listed as 32.000 lbs. 1/3 of that is 10,666 which in some cases like a flat straight pull, is a good estimate of the working load. I would not want this rope to be holding 5 tons over my head but applying 1066 lbs. of pressure to pull me out of a snow drift I would do. Especially appealing is this 92-foot of rope takes up about the same space and weight as a 20-foot set of jumper cables, also something you should have in the trunk for winter. I am not going to be using this on a winch at this time. I have installed a second hook at the other end and have converted it to a 90 foot 10,000 lb recovery rope. Sometimes out in the woods you need a bit extra to keep the rescue vehicle on a safer piece of ground. Last suggestion is these are for applying pressure not for trying to stretch and snatch something out of being stuck. Take up the slack and then pull. I do recommend having one of the ropes in your SUV or truck during the winter.
