I ordered two of these 90 degree diagonals and found that they were both defective. They are made using second surface mirrors instead of first surface mirrors.A second surface mirror (the kind that are used around the house) has its reflective surface on the backside of the glass. This protects the delicate reflective material from damage. It works well enough when viewed straight on but produces minor "ghosting" when used at an angle, due to refraction caused by looking through the glass itself. They are generally good enough for everyday use.A first surface mirror has its reflective surface on the top of the glass. It is more delicate but is required for optical use as there is no refraction from the underlying glass. The attached image is looking at the sun through a telescope (with a proper solar filter on the objective lens). The ghosting is obvious and produces two extra images of the sun.Perhaps the mirrors were accidentally flipped during assembly, but I'm not going to try to disassemble and fix them. The bottom line is that these are NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR OPTICAL USE.
