I’ve never used these before. I got them to see if I could remove the rust from some old things lying around, and if so I could use them as antique decorations around the place. The brushes fit in my drill perfectly, so I tentatively started out on an old hinge that I didn’t care about. The wire is very stiff, and I wasn’t sure how much pressure to use. At first nothing happened, so I applied a little more pressure. This time I was able to get down to the steel and stopped to see the results. I found some scratch marks, though maybe it was already damaged under the rust – it is a really old hinge! So I found a decorative horseshoe that just needed a little bit of paint and rust taken off. Again I started out with gentle pressure, and the results were really impressive, with no scratches on the horseshoe. So bottom line, these brushes work very well, so you need to be patient and go slow, and re-evaluate as you work.
