As for the jar lids, this tool damages them. It leaves a dent on the top of the lid. So, on top, the tool is too "sharp" for any lid.

I have arthritis which affects my grip. I keep one of these near my cat food cans for which I use the little hook, like looking things on the ends and I use them to open my propel bottles, which is what I drink the most. I have one on a little tray next to where I hang out and one in my bag of essential medication’s in case the one on the tray gets missing e.g. buried under my other junk. The only downside is that it doesn’t open water bottle tops that are very shallow in depth. there is a slit in the bottom part of the handle that you can slip over top of a pull tab on a can such as a soda can. usually I can open that part without the slit and then continue with the hook like parts sticking out on the other end, where the hole is, which II use to pull the rest of a cat food lid open and off. There are metal parts sticking into the hole, which can be used to open soda or beer bottle tops from glass bottles like an old-fashioned bottle opener. Inside the hole part is a graduated size gripping surface, which handles the usual twist tops and occasionally a top will come off completely and stick inside that part. This is easily resolved by screwing the lid on a little bit partway, and then taking the handle and lifting it up, which will leave the lid behind on the bottle and that is easy to get off because you’ve already loosened it all the way. These items are lightweight, and you could probably easily carry it in a backpack purse or whatever. The different colors are nice for visibility. There are probably a couple of other functions that this thing can do, but I don’t particularly need those.

I found it doesn’t live up to its promise. The twist off bottle opener works pretty well. The jar opener section seems too thick for grasping most jars that I’ve tried in order to break the seal.

I liked the overall idea of these tools to help with the more complicated everyday things I need to open like bottles, cans, and jars. However, I found them more difficult to use than some of the tools I was already using.

This was an add-on to another purchase--the product it came with was next to worthless, but this is a real gem for anyone who wants to protect their nails or hands. I actually leave this one on the counter much of the time because I use it so frequently, mostly for opening bottles or those cardboard cartons for dairy and juice products. it can be hard to get a grip on those little lids to open them the first time, plus, the little prongs on the tool make short work of the pull tabs underneath. They also open any sort of tabbed can, including everything from sodas to sardines. Use the handle end to lift, and the prongs to lift off the top. I 've since purchased and given away at least half a dozen of these and after my doctor used the one I gave her, she's recommended it to many of her elderly patients.

I bought these bottle openers because sometimes it’s hard for me to open my pop and tea bottles. Most of the time it’s because they’re sealed too tight and won’t open. The bottle openers work great! The only thing missing is a magnet for the fridge. They are easy to use and a good deal! So far they’re also durable.Get these for anyone, especially for people that have a hard time opening Pepsi bottles, iced tea bottles or anything that the openers fit.

I was using a spoon handle to lift the ring on my dog food cans because my old arthritic fingers had such a hard time. This little tool has made such a difference - no more finger pain with opening cans with rings. I odered a couple for another elderly friend and she loves them too. I know they have other functions, but if opening ringed cans is the only thing I ever use them for, I am pleased.
