Tips
*A fan blade with a pitch of 2 ½” or over, will require the use of either a Heavy Duty or a Severe Duty fan clutch
*Heavy Duty fan clutch will lock up 70 to 80 percent when engaged
*Severe Duty fan clutch will lock up 80 to 90 percent when engaged
*Heavy/Severe duty Fan clutches are applied on vehicles with a higher demand for airflow than passenger cars and light trucks
*Increasing the pitch on the fan blade will increase airflow, and the resistance on the fan clutch will also need to be increased.
*Severe Duty Fan Clutches have the same relative operation as Heavy Duty fan clutches.
*Proper tools were necessary to replace fan clutch
*Professional Installation was Highly Recommended.

Direct Fit for 1998 dodge ram 1500 5.9L, but when your in first gear feels like your on a 747 run down the runway!Once you’re out of 1st & 2nd gear it does get quieter. I would not recommend this part for this truck model!

The fan clutch seems to be 100% engaged until you reach top speed. This makes it sound like you’re driving an airboat. Lots and lots of fan noise. This wast listed as a heavy duty fan clutch. It was not as large as the original made in 1999. After I installed it it made a huge amount of fan noise as I drove it. It is as it is stuck on and not delivering 70% as you go faster. It is half the weight of the original and the nut they used to install. It is not as wide as the original. It can be installed, but it’s not as easy as the original because the nut on the original is about 7/8 wide and this one is maybe half inch and it interferes with the nurse that you install the fan with. It may break in as I drive it, but it may not. I paid extra money for heavy duty one. I don’t think I got it. If I did, I would never buy one that’s not heavy duty . Because this isn’t near as large as the original. I’m unhappy with it. And in a 1999 Dodge Durango it is hard to find the tools put it on with so it’s very hard to install. That’s the only reason I’m keeping it on because I wanna take it off and try to install another one. Will give it two stars and would not buy one again. Good luck if anyone buys it. I really can’t compare any of others on Amazon. They may be even worse.
