Worked like a charm to help me get these coilover springs installed on my X3. Great quality tool and even greater price.

I bought to do my 08 Silverado 1500 struts and one of them broke off thanks God I hadn't taken the nut off the strut other wise it wouldn't off be good for that reason it dues not and will not have 5 stars not even one these folks that make this compressor need to do better job because it is the customer who will get hurt if this thing fails while in use

This tool broke in the first few minutes of use. The threads striped and was useless after. Please stop selling this inferior product. Serious harm can come from the springs that are being compressed with this tool. I, luckily escaped injury when it failed and released pressure. I was not even trying to compress a large strut spring.

I used this tool to install Bilstein shocks on the factory coils of a Toyota Tundra. Very easy to use and very sturdy. You will want to expand these out over the span of about 5 coils to make sure there is enough room for compression.

Used this to change the shocks on a 2015 Chevy Tahoe with Magnaride. These compressors are surprisingly strong and worked well for this application. I did use a second (cheaper) Macpherson strut spring compressor as a backup (for safety reasons - just in case this one breaks) but this tool did compress these 600+ lb springs without issue. I did not use the curved joining arm that links the two halves together. Overall very happy with this purchase - works great on both tightly-wound springs and on 1/2 ton truck springs. Great value for the DIY mechanic. A few small issues but, at this price, it's hard to beat.Pros:This tool's jaws are slightly deeper/longer than the cheaper style compressors which provides more clearance around the ends of the spring for the main body of the compressor - no clearance issues like with other styles (see photo where the tail-thread of the cheaper compressor interferes with the strut's end-plate). I did like the retaining nuts on the lower jaw of these clamps - they were able to hold the compressor in place while setting the upper jaw. The jaws are also thinner (but wider) than most spring compressors which allowed them to get into a fairly tight coil near the end of the springs. I could also use them on ATV/UTV springs whereas the cheaper style compressors' jaws are too thick and can't be inserted between the coils. The carrying case is just OK - good latches and sturdy enough as long as you're gentle with it. Price point is also great - It does the job of a wall-mounted spring compressor for a fraction of the price.Cons:The carrying case did not keep the connecting arm secured; It falls out of it's slot frequently. The case is also made of thin, pliable plastic. Over time the case hinge is likely to split/tear/fail. The tolerances on this tool are fairly loose - I highly recommend lubricating the main threads with moly paste or anti-seize before using them, otherwise you may end up with some thread damage. When not using the connecting arm the retainers at the top of this compressor dangle and get in the way. It is possible to remove these, however, if you don't plan on using them. The jaws of this compressor are cast, not forged, so reliability and strength could be better. A set of instructions would also have been nice.Pro Tips:Lubricate the main threads with anti-seize. Use a secondary set as backup, just-in-case (safety first!). NEVER (ever, ever, ever!) use an impact wrench with this tool - doing so could result in serious injury. When compressing and de-compressing, turn the tightening screw one full turn at a time, switching back and forth between the two halves after each full turn, or use two wrenches and turn both halves simultaneously (this will ensure that the load remains evenly distributed between the two halves of the compressor at all times). Set the jaws as close to the ends of the spring as possible. Always set the two compressor halves on opposite sides of the spring, as close to 180-degress apart as possible. Mount the spring/strut vertically in a bench vise or holder to make using this tool quicker and easier.
