Shouldn't even give one star. The bristles started falling out the minute we opened the package.

The bristles were coming out right away, they aren't firm and they sweep nothing. As cheap as can be.

We heat with wood and, until recently, that was our only way to heat (beyond passive solar). The fireplace tools are used daily with the brush as our most well-used. Previous brushes have all eventually bit the dust mostly from hot coals cooking the fibers. We are dutifully attempting to NOT test out these brushes in regards to hot coals and, so, I cannot speak yet to how they will hold up against the coals. But, I've brushed warm coals and it held up perfectly against the modest heat. The synthetic brush fibers really have a feel of stiffer horse hair. That means that the balance between fiber flexibility (to clean all corners of the base of the fireplace effortlessly) and sturdiness (the ability to surely get into the corners and deftly move around larger residual coals) is perfect. They were smaller than I expected but they were the size clearly advertised. Their top hole with screw-mount was a perfect fit for our existing rod (I did measure that in advance to make sure). The brushes do not come with any metal brush mount (between the rod and the brush) so we just used the older (wider) one (for no good reason, I guess) and, well... it works GREAT.BTW, we live in a town loaded with thrift stores. We buy 85% of our daily stuff at the thrits. For over a year I've been scouring the town's thrifts for a fireplace brush without success. I guess, of all the fireplace tools, that's the only vulnerable one. As such, I bit the bullet and got it through Amazon vine. And, given that I got two for what felt like the price of one... I have brushes to last me a long while.highly recommended if this is what you need.
