Humidity: Toggle the instrument's button to MOIST,MOIST is the moisture key, corresponding to the instrument is moisture, the left is dry, the right is wet.① Values 1-3 (red part) indicates that it is dry and needs watering.②Values 4-7 (green part) indicate that the humidity is appropriate, adjust the watering time according to the plant species.③ Values 7-10 (blue part) red part, indicating too wet.
  • To use, insert the probe more than two-thirds of the way into the soil and take a reading in about 3 seconds. If you encounter resistance, try again elsewhere.Slide the switch and check the ‘ Soil Moisture/Fertility/PH ’ result in the display window.
  • Note: If the soil is too dry, you need to wet the soil with water to measure the value, otherwise it may cause the instrument needle will not work, the instrument detects humidity in the range of 1-10, if the test environment soil humidity is lower than 1 or more than 10, it may lead to the instrument does not work properly!
  • 2. Soil PH:Soils can be naturally acid or alkaline, and this can be measured by testing their pH value. Having the correct pH is important for healthy plant growth.Being aware of the long-term effects of different soilmanagement practices on soil pH is also important.
  • Soil pH is considered a master variable in soils as it affectsmany chemical processes.lt specifcally affects plantnutrient availability by controlling the chemical forms of thedifferent nutrients and inßuencing the chemical reactionsthey undergo. The optimum pH range for most plants is between 7 and 4.
  • 3.Fertility: Toggle the button on the instrument to FERTILITY ①Fertility weakly pointing left (yellow part) ②Fertility suitable pointing to the middle (green part) ③Excess fertility pointer points to the right (red part)

As we approach planting season, I ordered this tool to help me prepare my garden soil for the selection of plants I want to use this year. I like this tool because it essentially gives me three tools in one. I can monitor moisture, fertility, and PH, all with the press of a button on the front. That information is important to determine the type of soil conditioner or fertilizer you require. The meter comes ready to go out of the box. A quick glance at the instructions to get the "do's and don'ts," and I was out the door and into the garden. I checked the soil in a variety of areas and noted the readings. I also manually adjusted the moisture of the soil, and rechecked the readings. The meter indicated the increased moisture levels, which was a good level set for me to ensure it was working. I took my readings, along with a picture of the readings, down to my local nursery, and I'm working with them to start conditioning my soil for the upcoming plant. I'm looking forward to using this meter throughout this season to monitor my garden soil - I hope to do better this year than last year!Overall, I'm very happy with this meter. It seems to be providing me all the information I need to help get my garden ready for the season. If I find any problems or anomalies, I'll update this review, but right now, I'm very happy and would recommend this meter. For under $10 ($9.99 at the time of this review), it's an inexpensive way to help keep your garden or lawn in good shape.

I am someone who uses and relies on measurements from meters, which is why I obtained this soil tester. This soil tester has a moisture and a PH meter. I received this meter just after it rained and so I could use the moist ground to check the moisture meter reading (Anyway, you can usually pick up a pot and tell by its weight whether the soil is moist or not). But what does the soil tester reading tell you? The instructions don’t provide information about how to use the moisture reading – some plants like to be wet, other need a moist soil, while others need to have the soil dry out between watering. The pH meter requires the soil to be moist because the way the probe works is that it create a small electrical current and that measurement can’t be made when the soil is dry because air between soil particles is not conductive. But after you have a pH soil meter reading, there is no way to validate/calibrate the result. This means that the meter reading can be used only to give a rough estimate. That can be OK in some cases. Some plants prefer acidic soil and some prefer alkaline soil, so again you must know about the plants you are testing to get any benefit of the tester readings. The 3rd scale on the tester, ‘fertility’ is essentially just a replication of the pH dial.

Easy to use. Works right out of the box. No batteries needed, just select which setting you want to look at and put it in your soil a couple of inches. I think this will last a long time if proper care is taken care of it. For the price compared to others I've seen listed on amazon and even at hardware and garden centers and stores near where I live, I think this is a great value. Especially since it does everything all the ones that cost 15 to 20 dollars do. Why spend more to do the exact same job that the other soil testers/readers do?I'm glad I was able to get this to save me a little bit of time doing traditional chemical soil tests. I'll still have to do those tests periodically, so I know exactly where my nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus levels are at. But this gauge will give you a quick look at everything at a glance, and I really like that. I also love knowing that I no longer have to disturb the soil around my crops to see if I need to add water or if it can wait. Especially more so since my soil drains and dries up very quickly where I live, and I never really know if it's surface level dryness or even deeper than surface level. The instructions are really helpful as well. if you're above or under a certain range that you want to be in, it gives you some general suggestions for soil amendments to get you where you need to be for the range you want to be in.Overall, I really think this is a great and affordable tool to have in your gardening kit and is worth buying if you need one.

This is a really neat little soil tester! I've never tried one of these before. I've always just watched my plants to see what they need and just instinctively garden, but I wanted to see if this could help me do even better. The first picture I took was before I watered my plants, everything was reading low. Then I watered my plant and added some fertilizer just to see what would happen, and in the second picture is the readings from afterwards. Clearly the moisture went up, the fertilizer went up and the ph went up all into perfect levels in the green zone, which is awesome, because that plant is actually doing great, and this tester is confirming it that I'm keeping the levels in a perfect zone! So now I can stay on track with what I'm doing. It'll also be good to use on some of my more finicky plants to try to get a better read on them when I can't see anything on the surface that could use improvement.I love that this gives you readings for the elements: moisture PH and also fertility of the soil. My most favorite part of all is that you don't even need batteries for this to work. It is ready to go. It works well. It's fun to use. It's very helpful and I am going to enjoy Adding this to my garden tool collection!

I think this works? I am not a professional gardener but I do try to grow things. I don't know exactly how this works, it doesn't take batteries. I have seen the dial move but not much. I would like a little more information about how this can be used and what to expect in the pamphlet. If you are more familiar with what moisture pH and fertility should be this may be better for you.
