Meet SUSTEE
SUSTEE is a modern, Japanese soil moisture sensor. The blue color indicates that there is enough water in the soil, and the while color indicate that plant is in need of watering. SUSTEE features a minimal aesthetic that doesn't take away from the beauty of your plants.
SUSTEE
Color
Has your SUSTEE turned white? That means it is time to water! After watering, the white insert will change to a blue color. This indicates that there is enough water in the soil.
Soil
SUSTEE can be used with almost all plants that grow in soils with a certain level of moisture retention. This includes akadama soil, black earth, bark, coco peat, peat moss and vermiculite.
Insertion Depth
When inserting SUSTEE, please ensure that the Ω mark found on the stick is entirely covered. Please also make sure that the transpiration opening is visible if the stick is needing to go deeper.
Time
The time it takes to change color will depend on the amount of water given and the water retention level. When using SUSTEE for the first time, please water generously. The small stick takes approximately 3 minutes, the medium 15 minutes, and the large 25 minutes.

I really like these. They do eventually wear out after a year or so, but I don't mind re-purchasing them for some of my more tempermental plants. Also useful if I'm getting a plant used to a new soil mixture.

Works fine, but as you can see, in the first two pictures, there are opposite readings on opposite sides of the same plant. Same for the second two pictures of my larger plant. If you look closely you can see two of them are starting to turn blue, I think it just takes a bit. It's not an instant reading, but they're refillable, and smaller than my large-rod instant reader. Just need to be a bit more patient.

I love these! The color is so obvious when there is water in the plants! No more killing my plants by thinking they are watered when they are actually dry! So worth the month in no more dead dehydrated plants!

Not worth the money. I lost a prayer plant because the thing was showing blue for 5 days. So here I was thinking the soil was holding the moisture and didn't need watering. Nope, the soil had dried out completely but was reading it was moist. I walked around and checked all the other pots and sure enough, they stop working in a few months. Don't trust them.

I loved these things at first, but I found after only 2 months that the cores were starting to rot & stick out the top of the meter stick. I can't afford to replace the cores every 2 months, unfortunately.
