For some reason, there are no directions at all with this product. Be prepared to google for weeks and weeks just to find out basic information the manufacturer should supply. Don't already know how everything about electrical wiring? Well sucks to be you, this product doesn't care. Like how hard is it to include a piece of paper that describes the process of using the thing you bought? I gave you my money, that's not enough? How do you use this thing? Is there some law prohibiting the manufacturer from including a manual?

Great product! Too bad that since last year (2022) Amazon is holding our orders for a minimum of two weeks to ship it. We have no idea why. We had switched from ordering on eBay and little by little had to switch back purchasing stuff that we cannot wait close to a month. Amazon used to ship right away and we used to get our stuff in less than a week, now it's three to four weeks.

It seems to be very high quality just like any other contactor out there but with a way cheaper price. You can't go wrong with this for the price I will update after I have it installed and tell you how it holds up. But I have very high hopes for it

That is the question I asked myself when I bought my first big bandsaw decades ago. That bandsaw had an ancient contactor which was on the point of failure so I was forced to educate myself. If you have your own woodworking shop or maybe metal shop with a few machines, your absolutely first and top priority must be safety. Your body is issued at birth with ten fingers and two eyes and nice smooth skin. Replacements are difficult to find. Take, for example, the table saw. A table saw needs a lot of care to use even when it is behaving. But there are situations when it could start on it's own and be out of control. Say you switch it on and it doesn't start. You slap your forehead and realize it's not plugged in. Then you plug it in, it's starts whirring, and there's a screwdriver right next to the blade - nasty. Or you switch on the table saw and it trips the breaker. I've had that happen lots of times, especially if there is other gear running at the same time. You might need to go to a different room to flip the breaker back on, and who knows what sort of mayhem could happen as you go back to the shop. Or you might leave it running all night. These are the very unpleasant situations that a contactor plus a couple of other switches can prevent.A contactor uses an electromagnet (or solenoid) to pull the power contacts together. The contacts give power to the electric motor which starts running. But then the contactor (plus its circuitry) does a clever thing - it uses the same power that the motor is using to hold the contacts closed. Now if there is a power interruption the contacts open, switch off the motor, and stay open even when the power comes back on. It will only start if you push the start switch. Much safer. But the contactor can do much more. It allows you have more than one OFF switch for instance. On my bandsaw I have one OFF switch at eye level and another triggered by the foot break. And you can buy great big red easy-to-see OFF switches. Or you can add an current overload trip or a temperature trip. You may be saying "yes, but my so and so machine has a big switch box with a green button and a red button". You should test what happens when you interrupt power. Many modern machines have bogus switch gear that looks right but is in fact just an ordinary toggle switch. You already know the drill - toggle switch BAD - contactor GOOD.The only downside is that industrial switch gear is a bit of a black art. There are global standards so that all the connectors on the contactor have numbers like 14NO or 2T1. This contactor has no documentation in the box at all but it does follow industry standards. So the only solution is to do a LOT of research online and figure out how to connect and install them. This contactor is an identical copy of the industry standard Schneider model which is very expensive. It is impossible to tell whether the internal contacts have such good metal to prevent damage from arcing. But it is such a bargain that you could buy three of these for the same price. You decide.I am very happy with this Shopcorp contactor and am planning to install it on my wood lathe whose crappy toggle switch has been annoying me for a long time.
