I absolutely love the container these needles come in, but I HATE these needles. I don't think it's this specific product, but self-threading needles in general. My thread keeps splitting, falling out of the needle, the needle snags on my fabric, and I've had oh so many knots etc. Since I started using these. As someone new ro embroidery I should have researched first. It did take much time googling why this is happening to realize that self-threading needles are just not really worth it. Regardless, I didn't spend much money and love the little wooden container & how the inside is magnetic so it definitely wasn't a total waste!

While the needles are not difficult to thread, they come unthreaded during the process of sewing. They also abrade the thread to the point of breaking the thread very quickly. I can't even sew a button on without the thread breaking. On a lighter note, the wooden case they come in is very nice. I will keep it for storing my regular needles.

Although these needles are sharp, they have an engineering flaw. The self-threading needles I bought before, have a notched top and thread by pulling the thread through the notch. They will sometimes come undone if pulling too hard. These needles thread from the side below the eye. Although they are easy to thread they come untreaded much too easily. I can't do more then two stitches before they unthread. Having to constantly stop and re-thread the needle if very annoying. In addition, after2" of sewing through thick material which requires pushing instead of pulling, the needle head bent and became useless. Total waste of money!

I was so excited to try these because threading a needle can be so time-consuming, even with a helper. But my embroidery floss often fell out or was shredded as I stitched. Might work for some other kind of thread but these aren't for me.

This is my second batch. I tend to leave my needles hinging from the back of my work ready to begin again. Of course, I lose a few with that bad habit but I figured I better get more so they are always on hand. I love the wooden tube, no more holding the needles up a against the light to tell what kind they are. When I find needles in my sewing box I look for the small "hook" in the eye and know they're my good ones and put them in the case. I've used them with crewel wool and 6-strand cotton floss and regular sewing thread. I'd had such a bad time threading needles before I came across this product. I know some commenters find they unthread themselves but that has not been my experience. I love these needles. I'll continue to keep buying them as needed.

These were too easily broken to be reliable for use. Maybe metal mix/alloy was off?

The case is very easy to open and contains needles for all sized projects. There is room to add aditional needles you have already into this case so tehy are all together.

I got these as a "stocking stuffer" gift for my mother who does a lot of embroidery/needlework as a hobby along with quilting, so having good needles is always a plus for her. The different sizes provide a nice range for her to use and multiples of the same size means she can have them pre-threaded and ready for use whenever she needs them. As she's gotten older, it's been harder for her to use conventional needles and the 'self-threading' feature that these have makes it that much easier for her to continue with her work. The compact wooden case keeps them all together in one place when not in use and fits nicely in her sewing kit.
