About this item

  • GRIPSTUDS TRANSFORM your wader boots. They provide secure traction and are today’s most customizable and efficient performance solution versus traditional traction aids like over the shoe crampons or ice cleats
  • ENGINEERED TO MEET EXPECTATIONS. You’re at the top of your game and so are GripStuds! Each stud has a solid tungsten carbide shaft that is rust resistant, one of the toughest metals known to man, and maximizes grip on challenging surfaces like snow, ice, and slippery rocks
  • INNOVATIVE PATENTED WIDE-AUGER THREADS allow more surface area to contact the rubber of your sole which increases retention and prevents further movement into or out of your footwear. The studs become one with your boot, unlike less stable slip-on spikes, which can be easily forgotten to put on
  • IMPROVE SAFETY. REDUCE ACCIDENTS. These aren’t your grandfather’s boot spikes! The increased stability of GripStuds has made them mandatory gear for many oilfield, mining and railroad companies throughout North America that want to reduce accidents on their job sites
  • CUSTOMIZE YOUR FOOTWEAR: GripStuds provide varying stud depths that can work in virtually any sole. You can also design your own soles, adding as many as you like to match your demands. GripStuds are the perfect wader boot studs or fishing cleats

Product Description

Traction for Wading Boots

Next Level Traction For Footwear

Screw-in steel studs will give you extra traction on any slick surface. Screw into wading boot lugs, work boot soles, trail running shoes or hiking sandals. Where ever you're going, whatever you're doing, take slipping off your mind with Grip Studs.

Stud Features

Features of our Stud

  • ENGINEERED TO LAST Studs performance often outlast the rubber they are screwed into.
  • TUNGSTEN CARBIDE Tips are brazed into place and are designed for heavy use.
  • PRECISION CUT NOTCH Allows for the installation tool to engage the stud. The notch sits below the rubber surface, so if you want to uninstall, the notch remains in undamaged by abrasion.
  • AUGER CUTTING EDGE Slices right through the rubber when you apply pressure during the installation process.
  • WIDE AUGER Creates large surface area contact, which resists movement or tear out of the rubber.

Expensive, but the flat-end screw is invaluable for modifying trail-runners. Never felt a single screw and trail-runners are now ice-cleats. So much better than microspikes because 1) Spikes can be placed at the perimeter for all-around grip, 2) Microspikes slip around one's shoe, these are as secure as one's shoe is to their foot. 3) They weigh a fraction of what microspikes weigh. 4) Carried Grip-studs and tool in backpack and only installed them when ice/snow was encountered.Because, the only downside is that once installed, one's shoes are no longer appropriate for polite company. Shoes will tear-up many floors. They can be worn in most commercial venues (airports, etc.), but are pretty tough on wood or linoleum. Once installed, it can be best to have camp-shoes to re-enter civilization.Worth every penny for UL backpacking.

I thought these were a bit overpriced but for the convenience of just screwing them in and not needing a drill etc they are great. Turns my extra tuffs into studded extra tuffs which really helps in the icy Alaskan winter! Studded shoes or cramp ons are a must where I live. My issue is that most of those styles run narrow. This product solves that issue by turning any shoe into a studded shoes!

Works as well as felt. But need to get a pair of felt boots as these will absolutely eat up the deck of your boat. Definitely only for walk and wade trips.

With grip studs I am now completely confident that I can safely wade on slippery, slimy rocks with the studs grabbing the rocks surface and NOT slipping. It’s been a game changer for me Jim Hepfer

As a paramedic I spend more time then I would like working in ice and snow in the northeast. I have worn pull over cleats on my duty boots for as long as I can remember. I can also remember how many times I've snapped them off in the middle of a storm leaving one foot sliding around. These are perfect for the conditions I work in and look forward to having a more permanent solution. I run through boots quite often so I took an older pair to try these on and they are now with my winter gear for our next ice storm. Installation was easy and I had all of them secured in 20 minutes. I chose to order the larger size for thicker snow and ice because in the spring I'll move them over to my waders for fly fishing. I hate everything there is about working in ice and anything that helps makes the shift so much better. Recommended purchase.
