I was excited to give a review about these bases. As you can see in the first picture, the thickness of the metal base is substantially thicker than the part bought at a local home improvement store. These units measured .110 inch thick, home store item - .0525 inch thick. In the second picture you will notice the skirts are quite a bit longer by almost 1 1/8". However, you may have also noticed that the extra thickness and increased inside radius creates a problem - the 4x4 does not want to seat completely. I resolved this problem for my needs by running a 1/4" roundover router on the edges - picture 3. A slight tap with a hammer and it seats, the sides splay out slightly that can be pulled in when screws are used.

I used these to raise one side of 4x4 beams that run on top of my self made pergola to add some slope. Because of these I was able to add a plastic roof and now my pergola is much cooler and my furniture stays dry when it rains. Very strong, heavy duty, would recommend

Bought this to use as support for posts on top of trex decking. Had bought something at a big box lumber store but posts weren't strong enough. Replaced with these instead. Very satisfied with the results! Posts don't move at all. Would highly recommend.

These make much sturdier 4x4 bases than the thinner/cheaper versions sold in the large hardware store. They are think and strong and also aid in making a post plumb
