Tight fit so a bit of a challenge to get on. So worth having to keep pool filter cartridges cleaner much longer as these sleeves keep small and large particles from entering the pool pump. I’ve reordered twice as it’s easy to use and toss if needed or cleaned and reused for months. Economical and does its job well.

The skimmer socks do exactly what they should do! They catch pollen and leaves from going into the filter. I empty th basket then hose it off to remove the fine particles and it’s ready to go again. They’re very fine so don’t know how long they will last. I’ve only had these a few days but believe they are going to be a real bargain for the buck.

In my pursuit of more efficient and cost-effective maintenance strategies for cleaning equipment, I've discovered a novel use for a common pool maintenance item—pool skimmer socks—that has transformed the way I maintain vacuum cleaners. Why Pool Skimmer Socks for Vacuums?Extended Filter Life: Using a pool skimmer sock as a pre-filter for your vacuum can drastically extend the life of the vacuum's main filter by trapping dust and debris before they reach it.Ease of Maintenance: This method simplifies cleaning. Instead of frequently washing the vacuum's filter, you can just change or clean the skimmer sock, saving time and effort.Cost-Effectiveness: Pool skimmer socks are inexpensive and often sold in bulk. This makes them a cost-efficient alternative to purchasing new vacuum filters or having professional maintenance more often than necessary.Implementing This Hack:Fitting the Sock: Stretch a pool skimmer sock over the vacuum’s air filter, making sure it's completely covered but not overstretched to avoid tearing.Securing the Sock: Use a rubber band or tie to secure the sock, depending on your vacuum's design, to ensure it stays in place during operation.Regular Replacement: Change the sock regularly—either dispose of it or clean it if reusable—particularly when it becomes visibly dirty or starts to affect airflow.Monitoring Performance: Always monitor your vacuum's performance for any signs of decreased suction which may indicate the sock is too full or too tightly fitted, restricting airflow.Feedback and Additional Tips:User Insights: Those who use skimmer socks for pools find them durable and effective. While using them for vacuums is unconventional, the fundamental principle of trapping particles remains consistent. Ensure you choose a size that adequately covers your vacuum’s filter without gaps.Performance Notes: Regular checks are essential to ensure the sock does not impair the vacuum’s performance, especially if you notice any decrease in suction power. Conclusion:Adopting pool skimmer socks for vacuum maintenance is an ingenious hack that has not only improved the functionality of vacuums but also promises significant savings in maintenance costs. This approach is particularly appealing for those looking for practical, easy-to-implement solutions in their cleaning routines. Whether you're a professional cleaner or just someone looking to extend the life of your vacuum, consider giving pool skimmer socks a try—it could be the simple solution you've been searching for.

I purchased these back in March, and fully intended to write a review a couple of months later. I even took a picture, but I got distracted with something and never got back to it. Well at least now I can speak from experience. I've been a pool owner since 2008 and I can say, without a doubt, these are THE best pool maintenance products I've ever purchased. Fire ants are a big problem in Texas, and the males begin swarming around May or June, all headed straight for my pool. There is no "large" debris in the skimmer basket because I had cleaned them out just two days earlier. So everything you see, except the june bugs, would have easily passed thru the basket straight into the filter. And that's after only two days, from one of three skimmers. The general yellowing of the sock is pollen from pine trees, something else that's flying around here in May or June. So it's easy to imagine how much cleaner your filter will stay and how much longer your filtering element will last. The sock itself is deceptively durable. I imagine many people replace them when they clean out their skimmers, choosing not too handle them, as they are pretty nasty looking. But if you chose to rinse them out and reuse them, they will last for months. I'm just on my second set of three, I changed them all out not two weeks because one of them tore as I was putting it back on the basket. So three lasted me nine months.Because the sock will trap very small particles, you may want to alter you skimmer basket cleaning procedure to include doing it only when the pump it running, if you're not already doing so. When there's no suction at the skimmer a lot of that very fine debris floats, and will spill over back into the skimmer as you remove the basket. Gently removing the basket while the pump operating will kept that debis pinned to the sock. Don't forget to block off the skimmer as you're cleaning the sock and basket, or to open it again before replacing the basket. So, needless to say, I HIGHLY recommend this product, however they will not fit baskets with those tall center sections. What those are suppose to do I have no clue. But whatever it may be I can't imagine it being more beneficial then b eing able to use these socks.

The only complaint I have on these is the thread used to seal them at the bottom doesn’t hold up well in a chlorine pool. It seems to degrade and almost dissolve or something. If you plan to change them regularly that’s not an issue. I usually get at least a week out of them before they blow our. One tip is to tie and loop knot in the end and then you don’t have to worry if the seam comes apart. If you do that you can rinse them out and use them longer. They make a HUGE difference in keeping my cartridge filters cleaner. I will buy again. Low price makes the eventual seam failure tolerable. The tie-up workaround makes them a no brainer.
