At this price for seven different pipe die heads all the way up to 2", I'm not expecting perfection. This is a massive (heavy) set of dies and a ratchet for about the price of one 1" Ridgid die head (no ratchet, no six other sizes). If I wanted to put threads on several pieces of bare pipe, I'd buy or rent the Ridgid tools. But all I needed to do was clean up damaged threads on some 1-1/2" pipe that I'd pounded 8 feet into the ground and filled with concrete as a support for a small foot bridge over my creek. It worked for that without too much hassle. The only difficulty was caused by the pipe having been stretched a bit by the sacrificial nipple I was using to absorb impact getting pushed part way into it.I haven't tried threading bare pipe or any of the other sizes, but I would expect the 1-1/2" die head to work on bare pipe with a LOT more effort. I got no indication that the dies were misaligned and they were sharp enough to cut fairly well.

Of course it breaks after the return window closed. Broke the 1” die on the first job, don’t waste your money not even one job completed using this tool.

have only used the big 2" die. Got couple pieces cast iron pipe threaded then on the third the handle that comes with the kit broke. Force needed to cut 2" threads is significant, when the thin walled handle breaks you go flying so hope you have cat reflexes. Replacing the handle with thick walled 3/4" x 24" pipe is easy enough.

Not a lot, say. This is a product for a specific set of requirements. I will not critique the cost value is in line with the product. Experience and ability to use the equipment will show. More expensive products will perform differently. This is an in the USA made product. Better equipment will cost a fact of three and four times this product. Still, If you are a blind musician, then you can make these instruments work. I pray you too make the task work likened the musician and not a simple five-sense human.

I thought the guy who said he got one pipe out of this thing was exaggerating. Unfortunately, I can second his comment. I bought a house six months ago and I have a few old galvanized pipes to cut, thread and cap off. I knew this kit wouldn't be as good as the $700 Rigid kit, but I only needed it to last for a few pipes. The good news is that this kit is really, really cheap. Still, the hundred or so bucks is pretty much a total loss. I should have just continued renting the kit from Home Depot (which happens to be the Rigid kit -- I don't know why they seem to be the only American company making these things). I had the same experience as the other guy. The teeth started breaking after the first pipe I threaded (on the half-inch threader). What I now realize is that it only takes a couple of those little teeth breaking and the threads become unworkable. I would think they'd just use better steel to make the thing, but I guess it would cost more then. Whatever the case, my recommendation would be to skip this kit and rent one. Or, if you can justify it, buy a real kit for $700. Fortunately, I went into this with eyes open and wasn't expecting much. But wow, what a disappointment. The kit feels good and heavy and the first impression is that it will cut without problem. If my experience can help you any, save yourself the trouble and don't buy any of the cheapies (unless you have one pipe to cut).
