Bought this for my grandchildren. My grandson plays guitar and my granddaughter plays a set of Alesis electric drums and sings. Coupled with a powered monitor it works great.

The Alesis mixer is an amazing product. I was looking for a mixer that would allow me to record voice and guitar directly to the computer without using an additional audio interface. The USB connection from the Alesis 8 channel mixer does just that. The controls are easy and intuitive. the effects are very good (although I would have liked some more controls on the effects). The quality of sound is really good.

If you're a musician and you're currently practicing your tunes without something like this, you really can't know how you're actually going to sound at the gig. A small mixer like this that you can plug your mic and your instrument or amp into, then mix into headphones or a powered speaker can seriously improve your performance a TON. This is the first and only 4-track mixer I've owned, and it's likely the only one I'll ever need. It's very durable, easy to use, and does more than just get the job done.

I bought the Multimix8 about a year and a half ago. I was looking for something compact and solid to use both for home studio recording (GarageBand and Logic Studio Pro) as well as on-line karaoke with Zoom. The build and sound quality are excellent. I have owned other Alesis gear in the past and that helped inform my decision to go with this product sight unseen. It has some important features that I value including sweepable mids on the first 2 channels as well as built-in reverb and an external effects send. Additionally, there is an insert on the first 2 channels as well which means the ability to use side chain compression. Nothing else in this price range had all of those features. There was a Yamaha that came close but required using a computer to access and control effects so it could not be completely standalone. There is also flexible input and output routing via switches which are important depending on what you are doing with it and how you want to monitor audio. It is limited to 44.1/48khz 16bit stereo digital in and out via USB but that is not an issue for me. That said I do wish it had a few other features. Exclusion of some of these are purely about keeping the cost down:I would love solo and mute buttons on the channels. These seem to be missing from all small mixers but are immensely valuable things to have! (I would have paid the same amount of money for only a 4 channel mixer that had all features on every channel plus solo/mute). It would also be really nice to be able to control the volume of the digital audio input. The digital audio FX are passable but limited (I use one of the Alesis reverbs then add in delay when needed externally with the effects send). So ultimately truly a great piece of hardware which I highly recommend!

I have this mixer in my ham radio room. I'm mixing audio from 5 radios and my computer to output to a quality speaker bar. It works great for that purpose. I especially like that I it has a USB sound device inside so I don't have to output to a sound device and then input that into the mixer. The only thing I would change on the mixer design is to have a control on the mixer to vary the volume of the computer input. It's kind of annoying to control my computer's volume from the computer rather than controlling all volumes from the mixer. One feature that drove me to purchase this mixer was the included software that allowed some features to handle audio inside the computer. I intend to use this feature to record sounds from the radio systems. While the software is 'included' you have to jump through quite a set of hurdles to actually get your hands on it. The process took me a long time. You have to register the device (fair enough) but doing so is a confusing process. I finally figured out that their website doesn't recognize the serial number if you use your keyboard's numeric keypad to input the serial. It will only recognize the number keys above the letters. Not only do you need to get through product registration, you have to create THREE accounts in their systems. One on the main site, one on their download site, and a third that's some key verification system. Really? THREE registrations to get the software. I have to give my email address to THREE systems?? Wait a pain.Overall very happy with the mixer so far, and haven't used the software I worked so hard to get. By the time I got it downloaded I needed to take a nap.Alesis, if you're listening, make it easier to download that software!

I'd spent a lot of time looking for a usb mixer and had real trouble finding one that had all the features that I wanted - at least 4 inputs, built in effects, usb out, phantom power and able to act as a stand alone mixer, on/off switch - and wasn't too large or too complicated. This Alesis mixer has all the features that I wanted and is only 18 x 22 x 06 cm.The first thing I noticed when I picked up the box was that it was heavy - this thing is built like a tank, steel facia and back, with plastic sides and the knobs and switches all feel quality. In line with most 4 track mixers inputs 1 and 2 have XLR and jack inputs and separate EQ controls and inputs 3 and 4 are just jack inputs and share one set of EQ controls. Inputs 1 and 2 have both gain and level knobs, as well as pan knobs, while 3 and 4 just have level knobs. Inputs 1 and 2 also have 80HZ low cut switches and input two has a guitar switch to accept high impedance signals. There are 15 effects - 8 reverb, 2 delay, 3 modulation (chorus, flange and rotary) and two multi (chorus and reverb) plus a bypass setting. Effects are dialled in via the selector knob and controlled by both a FX send knob on the inputs and a master FX return level knob. On the back are the power 18V power input, on/off switch, phantom power switch and the usb out socket. The unit comes with short, straight-forward instructions in English and I was very quickly able to get it up and running. Everything works as you would expect in a straight-forward manner, when connected to my iMac it immediately recognised the Alesis and I was able to transfer data. The gain and level knobs are a good feature and on most things that I've plugged in - electric guitars, acoustic guitars, ukuleles, mics, condenser mics etc - I've quickly been able to adjust the signal and get a usable sound. The headphone inputs works fine and there is also a mini jack input to connect mp3 players etc which I haven't used yet. The effects are quite subtle and don't sound synthetic, they are easily adjusted via the send and return knobs. All in all I am very pleased with this mixer, I had considered mixers with more inputs and controls and I'm so glad that I didn't go down that road, the simplicity of this Alesis mixer makes it so easy to use and when lockdown is over and I get a chance to use it in a live setting I'm sure it will come into its own on a dimly lit stage. There are cheaper mixers out there with more features but this does feel quality and I'm sure that it will last.

A really great professional quality mixer for a good price.I want to address first and foremost to anyone wondering, this mixer only outputs a stereo mix from the Main channel over USB. The channels are not routed individually.Besides that, you get a lot of functionality including two parametric EQ's, and EQs on every channel and built in FX sends that I have found incredibly useful and of great quality. One thing I also really enjoy about this mixer is I've found it to have far less noise than my other DACs. Which I assume is just the quality internals of an Alesis productI personally like to use this mixer to mix my drums and then send it's output into a seperate USB audio interface along with my other instruments/mics.This mixer has more functionality than I have mentioned, some of which I'm not entirely sure how to use yet! But I think any entry level recording enthusiast would enjoy this amazing quality mixer
