This is my second unit of this brand & size. The first ran non-stop for 2 years until I had to use it to drain a mud pit & property disaster created by my builders. It died a noble death, saving our pond & property. This guy has been equally reliable since purchase. Pumps water as advertised-great flow and durability.

I have bought 2 of these Alpine pumps (a 6500 and a 8000) for a small pond with 2 water features at my home. After a year, the 6500 stopped working. I called Alpine's Customer Service Department and explained my problem. First, let me say that a HUMAN BEING actually answered the phone. Second, the HUMAN BEING took aggressive action to satisfy me without being prompted to do so...EXTRAORDINARY!!I was asked to take some pictures of my non-functioning 6500 and send them to customer service for review. I was called the next day...WAIT...did you hear that? They called me...REALLY! I was advised that I was being shipped a NEW pump to replace my broken one. 2 days later my new pump arrived and has been working perfectly ever since (3 months now). There are cheaper pumps on Amazon, but I cannot believe that any other company would be able to match the incredible level of personalized customer support that Alpine did. I am a Pastor, and this company is one that I have been praying for!Thank you Alpine for being a company that says what they will do and then does what they say they will do! Blessings and Grace to you all!Pastor Michael Duffy

Bought the Alpine PAL8000 to replace a TW6000 Atalantic Ponds model that had served me for 11 years. Pump motor looks identical and pump/impellor very similar so hope for same long life. Woul have given 5 stars but (1) found the impelllor screen is easy to fall off when setting pump if not careful (no locking mechanism, just push on friction fit), and (2) despite the pump curves being comparable at 2- feet head the flow is a little less than the TW pump. However the pricing was good so think is a good value.

I've seen the notes on where I might be able to find the 2.5" FPT x 3" FPT fitting (or even something I could make work), but I've come up blank, both locally (Lowes & Home Depot) and online. It should be easy, after all, they ship with one, so why can't I find more? I've contacted Alpine directly they don't have this in stock for "replacement" purposes. I assume this means they have stock to include and ship with the pumps. I've asked for their supplier. I'll update the review if they can provide me with that information. In my case, I want to run lines off both the intake and the outflow - that's why I need at least one more (if I can find this fitting, I will buy a few to have on hand, and for additional pumps I plan to install).

This pump (10k) moves large volumes of water. Although plastic in construction, it seems durable; I just purchased 1 month ago so duration is unknown.Biggest issue was as many reviewed the coupling that comes with the pump is for 1/2” size pipes. My work around was to use a 4” to 2” rubber reducing coupling that I purchased at Lowes (similar to https://www.amazon.com/Fernco-P1056-42-Flexible-Coupling-4-Inch/dp/B000BPDGUU/ref=mp_s_a_1_16?crid=3O5KA93NZ01GQ&keywords=4+into+2+in+reducer&qid=1651351988&sprefix=4in+to+2+in+%2Caps%2C140&sr=8-16I attached the 4” side to the outside of the largest part of the supplied coupling and tighten the hose clamp as tight as I could and it has been holding thus far. This is not ideal, because going directly to 2” reduces the flow rate and puts a lot of pressure on that rubber connector but it worked. If I could have found a 4” to 3” rubber connector I would have preferred to go with 3” pipe.

I have had 3 of these pumps all of them the 8000GPH and I'm throwing in the towel on the Alpine Cyclone models. I will say this they all worked great for just one year or less and then they all fail. If you like wasting around $250 each year on a pond pump then this is the one for you. I have taken care of these pumps and it doesn't seem to matter what you do it's always the same. At first, your water flow slows down, and then it goes to a trickle, and then it's toast. Each time the motor is working fine it's the impeller coupling behind the impeller that breaks and what happens then is the impeller starts to hit the casing which then damages the impeller so you need to get these new parts and good luck getting them from Alpine. I'm still amazed that this item has such good ratings on Amazon, this is the only reason I kept trying this product but now it must be reviews from under one year of use which is the only thing I can surmise. I would not recommend this pump if you want more than one year of use.
