There is no knob to adjust the settings for a clear view of the slide. It only goes up and down. Total waste of money. Plastic. Cheaply made. Light hardly works. Do yous self a favor and spend a little more for a scope that has an adjustment to make a clear view.

I actually haven’t used the scope yet because it’s a gift for my granddaughter. I purchased the experiment book along with the scope and it looks amazing . I can’t wait to perform them with her . I looks like there are many many fun projects . If you have a curious child and want to promote that then this is a great purchase !

Bought this for our six year old daughter, it is really a good microscope for your kid .Her mother, our daughter and I have looked at a lot of stuff with it, all five slides, her finger nail, a gran daddy long leg spiders leg, a dead lady bug, dirt, snowflake, and lots of stuff and we are not biologist it focuses really good.Get it and take your time move the slide over if you need to, use the light that's on it, or use a lamp shining in the mirror either way it works give it a try, you do need to be careful with the adjustment on the lens sometimes it will drop down but other than that its awesome she loves it we love it .

Bought this along with a more expensive, supposedly higher quality microscope. This one has excellent viewing detail on the same slide at all magnifications. Most kids microscopes bump into the slide before coming into focus at the highest resolution but this one is excellent. The construction is a little plastic and cheap. The accessories are cheap and useless. But the microscope viewing is excellent.
