Made of pure copper, with a folded lip along the top for stiffness, each cup is welded together by hand. The heat of the torch adds the unique coloration (aging effect). This chain looks years old right out of the box! Will easily handle heavy rain. Comes with a copper installation kit for optimal water flow through the cups.

Excellent customer service, as it was a little late and the vendor was in touch to notify. I should note that we bought this to replace a rain chain we made from recycled magnum-size wine bottles, which suffered catastrophic failures of most of the glass during some icy weather. This all-metal construction with extra drainage should not have any issue with ice.We definitely used the installation kit, but overall it was a very easy installation. It could use some method of anchoring at the base, as wind tends to push it out of the drip pipe (receptacle/receiving end). We added some chain and that took care of it. It all looks very nice.In rain, however, the rain chain function is only mostly successful. A good bit of water is sprayed outward within a 3-ft diameter area around the chain. This has not been a problem for us, but it's something potential buyers should know in case they need a fairly tight rain channel.

End caps did not stay attached. Need to be able to buy more of these caps as they were impossible to find on the ground. The winter ice bound to the chain and the weight nearly pulled the gutter off. I'll have to take the thing down every fall.

Beautifully made of heavy copper. I get compliments on this ALL THE TIME. Best purchase I've made in long time. And they are not only beautiful, but very functional, even in the heaviest downpour.
