I’m REQUIRED to provide a written review it seems. Having once been a member of the US Navy, I’m familiar with the term “swab.” Recall the phrase “swab the deck,” hence sailors sometimes being called swabbies. These swabs are useless for swabbing the deck, but function well to prep for finger sticks to test blood sugar.

These pads are thicker than most. Good for diabetic finger sticks. Good amount of alcohol in them. Not flimsy. Good and sturdy. Will keep buying them for sure.

These swabs are large enough and moist enough to do many things, like cleaning cuts and wounds and cleaning my hearing aids I probably use at least one every day.

Great for cleaning my CPAP mask daily. My husband also uses them as medical supplies and for disinfecting small items around the house. They are tiny, one-use alcohol pads in individual foil packets. Good value, but it seems the price is going up. Oh, well.

There are lots of alcohol swabs on the market, and most of them are pretty cheap, paper-based items, like the disposable 'towelettes' you get at a barbeque restaurant. Becton Dickinson and Company's ('BD') product are a much better buy in every respect. These "thicker, softer" swabs are exactly that - the fiber pads provide better contact, better cleaning and hold much more alcohol for much longer. I tend to use these for shop and hobby applications more than medical ones; the ability to re-use the same swab to clean several pieces not only makes them more effective but more economical than the 'cheaper' ones, too. Even BD's paper/plastic/foil laminate envelopes are much thicker and more durable, which keeps the swabs moist and usable much longer, and makes them a much better choice for field use or first-aid kits. Overall, a superior product, and well worth the slightly higher up-front cost.
