I love this formal stand, primarily for holding cookbooks open to the recipe I'm cooking from. I can easily view the pages without touching them with possibly recipe-laden fingers, It's also a great holder pf dictionaries and other reference books.

I use this stand for reading large books with thick pages. Not ideal, but this stand works great. I did try it with a very large and heavy laptop, but it kept collapsing. It came with a tool to tighten the bolts, so it could probably even be used for that as well. I was surprised at the build quality. It's quite good. Real, thick steel, ball bearing swivel base, and quite a heavy and solid stand. It's well designed and the little arms that come out to hold the book open have little ball bearings to make it easier to slide pages underneath of them. It's easy enough to use and makes it far more comfortable to do things like cook and eat while reading. The little rubber bumpers that clip to the steel frame fell off instantly and got lost. They need attached better. Not a big deal to me.Overall a good book holder. Nice looking too. I'd get this again.

I’m pleasantly surprised by the versatility of this sturdy, elegant little stand. I had thought it would be useful when cooking, for holding my phone or recipe books, but once I realised how much weight it could support we branched out.My son has used it to hold his tablet when he’s practising his music—he can adjust the angle so the music is visible while he plays, and the clips support the iPad even in its thicker, shockproof case. I have also tested it with my Chromebook just for curiosity’s sake; it seemed perfectly stable but the Chromebook is large, so I think for the size of it I’d be nervous about knocking it off somehow. For a video call with nobody else in the room, though, I imagine it would be just fine.

I like the look and the sturdiness. Much better than just propping a book up against something. The,angle is adjustable and the platform can rotate 360°. If I could make one small suggestion, it would be to make the ledge on which the book rests adjustable by approximately 1 inch to widen it. If I have a thick book, a large part of the pages hangs over the front and I cannot use the page holders.Other than that, I am happy with my purchase and do not regret having bought this media stand.

Over the years I've bought and tried several different reading stands, and they all lacked a good way of holding your book or magazine in. The arms to hold it might work well for thick books, but not for thin, or visa-versa. This stand handles thin magazines to thick books quite well!I give it 4 out of a possible 5, as 5 would be perfection, and I don't know that I'll ever see perfection!

This is a very nice looking articulating stand (dark wood/metal) that is also surprisingly sturdy. I tried it out with a tablet and music books and it did an excellent job with both. I was able to get it into an exact position while working on the tablet and it was perfect for reading music when I was playing. The book clips are also a nice addition and I found they did a good job to keep the pages in place when I was using it as a music stand. The rotating base worked very well to adjust my viewing angle, but I will say it is a bit “stiff” when opening it up from collapsed mode. However, it holds its position very well once opened and it does come with a wrench to adjust this tension. Overall, this a very nice product that has multiple applications (laptop, music, tablet, art, etc.) and is a useful product for just about anyone. If you need a good stand for any of the above, definitely put this one on your list.RecommendedGood luck with your decision/purchase

Upon taking this book stand out of the box, you can feel the quality of it. It's a nice heavy wood. It takes a little bit of force to lift the stand up, but it comes with a tool to loosen the bolt. That way you can adjust how loose or tight the hinges are. Basically, you can adjust the book stand up and down as well as tilting it forward and backward. The bottom of the book stand provides friction and I've had no issues with the stand sliding on the table. It is also on a swivel, so you can rotate it horizontally 360 degrees. I haven't come across something like this before, and it works great so far.The book stand also has plastic page holders which are sufficient. They aren't the most durable feeling holders so I'm careful not to pull them out to far.
