Bought this to remove and replace two gimbal bearings. Worked great. You do have to drill a hole for the collar to stay put. Make sure the hole is straight so the bearing goes in straight. I had no issues with the tool itself, just drilling the hole was a pain.

Worked great on a salted up Bravo III drive. Had a slide puller chained to a crane post and the gimble bearing. A 4wd John Deer tractor in 4 low with slack could not get the bearing out my puller was nearly destroyed after a couple of wheelies. Was about to say it requires a transom assembly. THIS TOOL WORKED! It took two guys on a 2 ft crescent wrench, was almost afraid the gimble ring was going to give 1st. Well worth the money!

Bought a "new" boat and had to do all the things. Gimbal bearings were apart of that list and this tool was a life saver. We tried a bunch of other tools that didn't even budge the bearings but this thing made quick work of the bearings. If you own a boat and do the work yourself, do yourself a favor and get this tool. Your frustration level will thank you!

Gotta say really impressed with tool. the alignment tool i miced and checked for squareness and true depth to tool centerline found spot on. bought w installer tool. now only complaint i had was had to drill hole to retain bearing plate/cup to bolt it on. but can be used wo doing it if stable and very cautious. but all in all 5 star and took 25 minutes start to finish to remove unit pull bearing and install. and assemble. so spend the money . worth it! there is cheaper but dont do it for ure sanity

Used to pull my gimbal bearing on my alpha 1 gen 2 mercruiser. After spending over a hour plus trying to use a slide hammer with a two pronged puller ( which btw was popping the center of the bearing out instead of the whole thing) I bought this hoping that it would work. Of course I read the reviews first and was kinda concerned as some said that the plate didn’t line up with the oil plunger on the drive (gen 2). First thing I noticed when opening the box was how thick the plate was ( half inch maybe) which was perfect. Of course as for trying to choose through the many choices for this tool, some reviews on some of them said that they were bending the plate. Not on this one your not! Overall it’s well made and did the job so easy!! I was pulling the bearing out when I was just tightening by hand! Honestly I thought something was going wrong because it was so easy. I think I only had to use the wrench on it to pull it out maybe 10 rotations. Don’t waste your time and energy trying a slide hammer. Get this tool!

Worked great for me. My gimbal bearing didn't seem to be too stuck so this pulled it right out. No modifications needed. Used a piece of old exhaust pipe to drive in the new one. Minus one star because I feel it's very overpriced for what it is but it certainly makes the job easier.
