This piece came in with some rough spots and rough welding that was then powder coated and these areas show through. Do I think this will diminish the functionality of the piece? No. Does it reflect on poor craftsmanship? Yes.

I use these quite often to hook a trailer to the bike. It stays in place and is an essential piece. As long as you don't loose it, it's going to continue to function. I've had this one for at least a year, maybe longer. It doesn't seem rusted out and has stayed mostly black with a small amount of unnoticable scraping from normal use. Will it fit you bike? Yes because it stays put from pressure of from however your wheel stays on. I'd guess its a quarter inch thick at the mount. Haven't had a bike yet that couldn't accomadate it's thickness. The portion that fits into the arm of the trailer -(or whateber it's called)- for me it's much smaller diameter so you might think that it wouldn't fit and that it would have to fit flush. The pin goes through the trailer arm and hitch and keeps it from going anywhere and the difference in diameter has no negative consequence in the functioning. With whatever I spent on this, I've been able to haul many things over 100lbs at times, I could trust my kid in the trailer on many adventures and it's still useful at least once a week on average.

Works but had to enlarge the hole very slightly before it fit the axle.
