Once the old drain was removed this new drain was very easy to install. It came with the rubber ring to ensure a good tight seal. The cover for the side of the tub is flat. I would caution any buyer to be sure your tub surface is flat before purchase as our garden tub is slightly rounded and the cover doesn’t sit flat against the side of the tub. It was an easy fix with a little plumbers putty.
