After taping over pin 3 on the SSD SAMSUNG PM1633A SAS drive, this cable works perfectly with Inspur LSI YZCA-00424-101 Raid Card 12Gbps HBA HDD Controller 9300-8i

Got 4 of those cables - none of them worked with my controller. The miniSAS HD connector cannot properly fit on the controller. Garbage product.

I'm using this cable to connect 4 1200.2 SAS3 SSD's to my LSI HBA (3008). They connect at SAS3 (12Gbps) speeds as verified by SeaTools and Hard Disk Sentinel. As these are SAS drives, they do not show up in CrystalDiskInfo.I'm getting 1100 MB/s read and 900 MB/s write speed per SSD. My drives are rated for 1900MB/s read and 850MB/s write. The reason for the lower read speed is because these cables only provide a single SAS3 channel to each SAS3 drive, so roughly maxing out that single channel. To see the full 1900MB/s read, I would need to use a different cable that provides 2 SAS3 channels to each drive, and run in dual channel mode. But that would mean I would only be able to connect 2 SAS3 drives per SFF-8643 cable, instead of 4 which this cable provides.Initially, the drives would not show up, and I thought the cable was defective. It turns out that my SSD's have the Power Disable feature on the 3.3V pins, so they power down if voltage is detected. Just cut the 3.3V pins from my PSU going to the SATA connectors and the drives are working.

I ran into an issue similar to other reviewers where my SAS drive would not power on. Upon inspection, I found that my power supply was sending 3.3 volts on pin 3 of the sata power supply. This was fine with older drives but the new Power Disable feature on pin 3 of my fancy new 6TB 12 Gb/s SAS Seagate drive, it was stuck in a hard reset loop never allowing it to even begin spinning and looking like it didn't have power. Instead of returning a perfectly fine cable/drive/card and purchasing a new cable with a molex connector (doesn't have 3.3v), clipping the 3.3v power pin somewhere, or using a different adapter that removes the 3.3 volt; I simply covered power pin 3 on the drive with Kapton tape. Black electrical tape might have worked but it's a little thicker, gummier, and I have a roll of fancy Kapton electrical tape for my fancy drive. Because pin 1 and 2 are unused (reserved for future 3.3v features), I was a bit sloppy with covering pin 3 and also covered pin 2 and some of pin 1. Plugged it in and now the drive is as happy as a clam at high tide.

This cable did not work with my Seagate Exos 7E8 12Gb/s SAS drives. The controller did not recognize that the drive was connected at all. I used a cable from another manufacturer in the same exact setup, and everything worked fine. I doubt that this cable is capable of driving 12 Gb/s SAS as advertised.

I have 4 sas drives attached to this cable and working for several weeks without any errors or issues whatsoever. I originally purchased the .5M cable wanting to keep the cables as short as possible to avoid problems, but unfortunately because my adapter has the connectors at the rear of the card, and my drives are in the front of the chassis the .5M cables came up short, they did reach, but would have always had stress pulling on them which I did not want. I have a very long/deep case, and if I had a more standard case I think the .5M would have been adequate. Not to worry if you need these longer cables, they are performing great for me. The cables plug snugly into the card and the drives, and the SATA power connection is also a good and snug fit. I don't envision having an issue with these cables ever.
