Got a warranty replacement for on-bike install - a boxed set and it came with this piece which was not on integrated fork.Which to answer my posted question - is it pictured upside down for how it would be installed on the fork?Yes - because it is a complete crown race. The bearing 45 degree seat is on the other side.I was hoping it was merely an under-shield seal, because the clearly seen angle on the inner race in the picture means it could rest on an integrated crown race under the bearing since the 45 degree angle is the same. Alas NOT the use case.Bummer, it can only be pounded on as a normal crown race on the steerer tube withOUT an integrated crown race, unless you want a bigger gap between cup and fork crown.And contrary to one answer to my posted question - YES the blue shield DOES go against the bearing - as a seal I thought it was. The 45 degree for the bearing to seat against is on the other side.As my picture shows with other items in set.Hope this helps anyone else as to what this is for, and what direction it goes.

Using this you will not need that plastic ring. I am pretty sure at least? it seems to be working nice and smooth along with the new bearings!Good Product!
