We spend a lot of time outdoors year round in the northeast, without concern for weather. My son has the kids' version of this poncho and I've been jealous of it but couldn't find an adult one... until I suddenly could. The thing that separates this from most other ponchos is that it's polyurethane bonded into a fabric material, not some kind of coated nylon. It's like a lighter weight version of your classic rubber (not plastic or PVC) raincoat material... which means it is REALLY waterproof, forever, and also quite tough against wear and tear, brambles, sticks etc. The downside I can live with is that is a little bulkier and heavier than a ripstop nylon option... but it's TOUGH and 100% waterproof, all day, day after day. The thing I hate is that it's way too short for a grown man hiking. Granted I'm tall--6'4"--but even without a pack the back of this poncho ends at my coat hem. I went hiking on a day of mixed precipitation in early January and the last 1/2" of my jacket was wet from the run off. I actually compared it to my son's kids size to see if maybe I'd been shipped the wrong product (I hadn't--it IS longer than the kid one). If you tried to put it over even a small daypack it'd be hanging well above the waist. Unless I can find a longer one of the same material, this is still the best option going--because it's tough and absolutely unrelentingly waterproof--but it's better suited to a short person or woman.

Can't say enough nice things about these ponchos. My wife and I bought a pair of these in 2015 and have used them multiple times each summer on long hikes in the Smokies and Shenandoah National Parks ever since. Both of those places can seriously put down the rain! We each carry our poncho rolled up in our packs ready to use. In a week's time we hike about 50 miles worth of day hikes so that adds up to hundreds of miles of either being carried or worn over 9 years! They're still going strong! You can also crouch down in a complete downpour to wait it out and they keep out the water! If these ever wear out (doubtful) I'll definitely buy again!

If you have to walk around in the rain a lot and need to keep dry, this is the way to go! I have no car and live about 1 1/2 miles from school. When it's all rainy and windy an umbrella is virtually useless. The wind blows the umbrella about, perhaps turning it inside out and meanwhile blowing rain all over you. Your head may be dry but practically nothing else is and you pray your laptop didn't get damaged as you remove all the soaking wet items out of your backpack.Enter the hero of the story, the Charles River Apparel Poncho! I can now get to school with dry clothes, except the bottoms of the pant legs, but that's what rain boots are for right? The little pull strings are made of a bungee type material and can be tightened to hug your face and the little plastic adjusters hold it tight so the wind doesn't constantly bow it off. It also has snaps around the neck area so you can decide how snug you want it to fit there too. I noticed that some people said they didn't have two snaps off to the sides around the arms but mine had both and I find these quite useful as well. Keeps the poncho from getting blown about too much but gives you the option to unsnap it if you need to. The quality of the material is good and I can tell it will last me a long time. The blue is a nice bright blue, very noticeable but not blindingly extreme. I like wearing a bright color while walking about when visibility is low for drivers. The size is perfect to cover me (5' 8", Medium build) and my somewhat large backpack fully. Comes down to around my knees, maybe a bit below them, in front.I highly recommend it!

Product just arrived today. Haven't tried it outside in the rain yet, but here's my review so far. I'm always hesitant about "one size fits all" products. I'm 6-2 170 lbs and I have a hard time believing one size really fits all...and I was pretty much right. The poncho covers my head and torso, but the "sleeves" end at my elbows. That's a lot of exposed area to the elements. The poncho barely comes down to about mid-thigh, so this won't really protect my legs from the rain at all. Lastly, the cutouts in the sides expose much of my waist to the rain. I wish the the sides had come with ties so it could have been closed up around the bod.The hood fits ok, the material seems supple and comfortable. However considering how inefficient it will be in heavy rain, I'm really thinking about returning it and looking for another product. So, three stars for the quality but it should really come in varying sizes.

This feels much nicer than I expected. I thought it might be plastic-bag-ey, but it doesn't feel cheap. The studs seem well-attached, the hood fits well, and I went out in torrential rain, and stayed mostly dry ( ie dry above my knees). Not great when it's very windy, but very useful.

Such good quality and even better than I expected. The lining makes this warm and the outer fabric is quite thick and very well made. The poppers and pull cords of the hood are strong and everything about this poncho is excellent.I'm 5'4" and this poncho comes down to around my knees which is a really good length. The hood is a good size and sits nicely. It's deep enough that it provides face protection from the rain.I liked this so much that I've also purchased one for my Mum.Definitely recommend this. I have forest green which is a really nice colour - a little Robin-Hood-ish but I like it.
